Easter is Almost Here!

By the time that this newsletter reaches your inbox, Maundy Thursday will be upon us! This is a strange time of both virtual and socially distant worship. People are beginning to return to church even as the vaccinations are not yet fully distributed. We are keeping our safety protocols in place for the unvaccinated but I can’t help but feel so grateful to see more and more of your beautiful faces, or at least the part of your faces that is not covered by a mask!
 
We have much to be grateful for. Please carefully read through the menu of options for the coming holy days and let the Holy Spirit guide you in your practice of worship. Let us walk together with Jesus to the cross and beyond.

Announcements
Bring Noisemakers and/or Bells to the Easter Vigil at 6 a.m.
One of the great traditions of the Easter Vigil service is to make a great noise when we reach the part in the service where the lights come up. Be sure to bring a bell to ring or a noisemaker if you want to participate.
Flowers for the Cross at the Easter Vigil
If you would like to bring flowers to put on the cross at either of the Easter services at the Cathedral - 6 or 11 a.m. - all are welcome to do so. The cross will be at the font in the back of the nave.
No Christian Formation Classes on Sunday
Classes will resume the following Sunday, April 11.
Three Sunday Service Schedule Begins April 11
Starting April 11 there will be three social distance Holy Eucharist services offered on Sundays in the Cathedral Nave at 8, 9:30, & 11 a.m. Virtual worship will still be offered at 10 a.m. on our YouTube channel.
Youth to Sell Native Fresh Greens After Church, April 11
Our amazing youth are partnering with Native Fresh, a commercial aquaponics farm located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville and an initiative of Fresh Ministries.

The SJC Youth Group will be selling fresh greens and maybe some vegetables on Sunday, April 11, after each service. Look for them in the breezeway by the iron gates on Market Street. All funds raised will go towards scholarships for our youth to attend retreats and mission trips. We’ll be following all social distance protocols so please wear a mask.

If you have a graduating senior this year that you would like to have included in the senior slideshow, please send their picture with their name and school to Liesl Gavronsky-Howsare by April 15th.

Visit the New Prayer Shawl Corner
Our Prayer Shawl Corner is up and running! It’s on the first floor of the Brown House, behind the Cathedral Bookstore. Stop by if you want to: 1) pick up a Prayer Shawl for someone who is in need, such as an illness, medical procedure, bereavement, new baby, mental health, etc. 2) drop off a Prayer Shawl you have made, and attach a tag to it, or 3) pick up some donated yarn to make a Prayer Shawl or practice your knitting/crocheting.
