Get Vaccinated this Eastertide

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!

Friends,

President Biden just visited a vaccination site at Immanuel Chapel at Virginia Theological Seminary (where I studied!). It looks like all adults should be eligible to be vaccinated by Mid April.

Please do encourage those you know and love to get vaccinated. There is no doubt in my mind that God works through the miracles of modern medicine and that this vaccine is an answer to so many prayers. It is in complete alignment with our faith, to celebrate science as a gift, as another form of revelation. I believe it pleases God for us to study the intricate workings of the universe and of this planet and the human body. The more we learn of science, the greater the sense of awe and wonder at the magnificence of this world. Science can increase our faith, not diminish it.

So go forth into the world and get vaccinated this Eastertide, and let us proclaim Alleluia!!

Youth to Sell Native Fresh Greens After Church

Our amazing youth are partnering with Native Fresh, a commercial aquaponics farm located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville and an initiative of Fresh Ministries.

The SJC Youth Group will be selling fresh greens and maybe some vegetables after each service. Look for them in the breezeway by the iron gates on Market Street. All funds raised will go towards scholarships for our youth to attend retreats and mission trips. We’ll be following all social distance protocols so please wear a mask.

Graduating Seniors Pictures

If you have a graduating senior this year that you would like to have included in the senior slideshow, please send their picture with their name and school to Liesl Gavronsky-Howsare by April 15th.

Altar Flowers

The flowers at the high altar this Sunday are given to the glory of God and in memory of Art Towson from his family.

Visit the New Prayer Shawl Corner

Our Prayer Shawl Corner is up and running! It’s on the first floor of the Brown House, behind the Cathedral Bookstore. Stop by if you want to: 1) pick up a Prayer Shawl for someone who is in need, such as an illness, medical procedure, bereavement, new baby, mental health, etc. 2) drop off a Prayer Shawl you have made, and attach a tag to it, or 3) pick up some donated yarn to make a Prayer Shawl or practice your knitting/crocheting. Family Promise

We will be "hosting" Family Promise April 18-24. However, due to COVID-19 the families will not be physically staying on our campus. Instead of volunteers, monetary donations are requested to help offset the costs of sheltering the families at hotels and food. Click here and select Family Promise as the fund to give online.
