A Message From The President
Mr. Freund
SJCA congratulates seniors Val Iaquinta and Michael Pienkos on their recognition in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship program!

Over 1.5 million students took the PSAT exam and of those students, approximately 16,000 semi-finalists were named nationwide. Michael Pienkos was named a National Merit Semifinalist and will continue in the competition for National Merit scholarships that will be offered next spring. Michael's PSAT scores were in the top 1% in the nation of high school seniors.

Val Iaquinta was recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar for his academic promise. Based on his PSAT score, Val is in the top 2 to 3% of high school seniors in the nation. Congratulations to these students on receiving these exceptional academic honors.

Today, our entire junior class took the Pre-ACT exam, a fully scored practice ACT that simulates an official ACT exam. Once we obtain their score reports, we will begin to provide dedicated ACT prep for our juniors to help them navigate the official ACT. At SJCA, we understand that ACT scores are just one part of a student's college application; however, early preparation will give every student an advantage on this exam.

Lastly, I want to thank our staff and congratulate our students on a very strong start to the school year. On the whole, student behavior has been exemplary. We had a terrific Homecoming Week, full of fun, laughter and spirit. The Grotto Mass was a notable high point. During the week, I was able to observe so many of our students leading their peers in the classroom, on the field and in the chapel. I anticipate that this positive trend will continue.

Best regards,
Bob Freund
Middle School News
Mr. Rizzo
Dear SJCA Middle School Families,

Our Lancer Value – Spirituality – was our main focus during the month of September. As we close out the month, let us all review our definition of Spirituality: God and Faith are the center of our lives.

A student was once asked what a saint was. The only saints he had ever seen were the saints in the stained glass windows in Church. So he replied very simply, “A saint is someone who lets the light shine through!”

I believe that is the simplest, yet so sincere, definition of a saint. And, his response is the perfect thought of how we can continue to talk with our students about our Lancer Value – Spirituality. We all have the light of Christ within us. We just have to let it shine!

Lancer Spirit Trophy

SENIORS WIN!!

School spirit was in the air last week as our high school classes competed against each other to win the first ever Lancer Spirit Cup.

Each class earned spirit points by dressing up on theme days, overall class participation in pep assembly events, and the parade float competition.

This new tradition has certainly inspired a little friendly competition and a whole lot of Lancer Pride. The seniors were awarded the Lancer Cup during the Homecoming dance. Congratulations, seniors!

Thank you to everyone who made Homecoming Week so special.

Respect Life Cross Installation at St. Anne
SERVICE OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL STUDENTS
Respect Life Cross Installation at St. Anne
Saturday, September 28, 2019
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

October is Respect Life Month, which calls Catholics " to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between. "

Each year, St. Anne parishioners install small crosses in the south lawn, reminding us of the number of abortions that take place each day in the U.S. -- a reminder that all life is a gift from God. Every human being has an infinite dignity and should be protected from conception to natural death. We are called to care and protect the most vulnerable persons in our society--the elderly, the disabled, the unborn children, and their mothers and fathers.

High school students and their families are invited to help with the installation of these crosses on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., which entails some handiwork. This is an excellent opportunity to promote Respect Life month and the the dignity of every person. If you have questions, call the parish office at 262-942-8300. No need to register, just show up at St. Anne, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 (south lawn).
