A Message From The President
Mr. Freund
Dear SJCA Families,

The St. Joseph community is a family, where every person is known, valued and loved. Whether you have been with us for generations, or have recently joined our school community, your family is an invaluable part of the fabric of SJCA. This week is Homecoming Week, a time for our entire community to come together in fellowship, spirit and fun. Our high school and middle school students are enjoying Homecoming festivities, from dress up days to class competitions, while our soccer and football teams prepare for their Homecoming games.

Today was our All School Mass and Grotto dedication. We were blessed to have Bishop Haines and several priests and deacons celebrate this Mass with us. During his homily Bishop Haines noted the importance of finding sacred spaces for prayer and reflection. At SJCA, this grotto is a true sacred space, with the statues of St. Francis, St. Joseph and the Blessed Virgin representing the past, present and future of our school. I want to thank all of those who worked mightily to bring this grotto to fruition, especially SJCA board members Bill Koenes and Mike Bain, and the St. Joseph Alumni Association. All of our students and staff, dressed in their We Are One shirts, celebrating Mass in this holy space was a true manifestation of our Catholic faith. Moreover, the reverent and attentive behavior of our students, particularly our little Lancers, was incredible. Well done, SJCA. Today was a very good day.

Please join us for this special Homecoming weekend. I especially urge our new families to be a part of this weekend's activities. Homecoming is a great way to make new friends and to see our school in action. I also encourage our long time families to reach out to our newer families, inviting them to join you in watching the parade, attending the games, and enjoying all of our Lancer spirit. A schedule of this weekend's Homecoming events can be found below.

Just a reminder that as you are enjoying SJCA activities, please keep a watchful eye on your children. Please keep them on the curb during the parade and make monitor their behavior while at the soccer and football games. Though our faculty and staff are often at SJCA events, parents are expected to supervise their own children during these family occasions outside the school day.

As today clearly evidenced, St. Joseph Catholic Academy is a very special place. We are truly thankful for our school family. We Are One.

Best regards,
Bob Freund
Middle School News
Mr. Rizzo
Dear Middle School Families,

Our Middle School staff and students have shown a lot of spirit during Homecoming week thus far, and for that I am proud. It has been so nice to see the majority of our students participating in our spirit themes each day, along with many staff members participating, as well! Our doors are decorated, the hallways are filled with joy and laughter, and still our daily expectations are being met, proving that our students’ and staffs’ excitement for teaching and learning is the priority. This is a great example of how rich our culture is here at SJCA!

Today, our Middle School students, staff and community members were blessed with a morning Mass in our Grotto. We were joined by the SJCA upper and lower campuses. I know this sacred morning will be a lasting memory for all. Bishop Haines offered a wonderful homily that discussed the power of prayer and praying for others.

Following Mass, our Middle School students enjoyed the last half of their day at Lincoln Park. The sun was shining, and our students, staff and parent volunteers had a lot of fun. A special thank you to KFC for sponsoring lunch and to our awesome volunteers for being so generous with their time. Also, I am so proud of our students with how respectful, responsible and safe they were throughout the day.  Let us all continue with the great spirit of the week, and I look forward to seeing you at the Parade on Friday and Homecoming Game on Saturday!

Lastly, as a friendly reminder, please have your student bring $10 tomorrow if he or she would like to purchase a Homecoming Class T-Shirt to wear on Friday.

“A community that cherishes the little details of love, whose members care for one another and create an open and evangelizing environment, is a place where the risen Lord is present, sanctifying it in accordance with the Father’s plan.”
- Pope Francis

God Bless,
Mr. Rizzo

Lower Campus News
Mrs. Santarelli
Dear SJCA Elementary Families,

Happy Homecoming Week! What a wonderful time of the year filled with an awesome amount of Lancer spirit for our school community. I hope you will be able to join us for some of the festivities this weekend. The parade is this Friday and starts at 3:00 pm. Typically lower campus SJCA families spread out along Lincoln Boulevard to cheer on the parade, catch some candy, and support our middle and high school students.

Stop by the Auction table at the SJCA Homecoming Games this weekend and pick up your Auction Raffle Tickets (also available in the main office). You can also call the office to let us know if you'd like us to send them home with your children. Our goal is to have each SJCA family sell at least three auction booklets.  Let's make it happen so we can continue to support all of the wonderful programs and opportunities for students here at SJCA.

Lastly, today we celebrated Mass with Bishop Haines and many other Kenosha priests and deacons at the Upper Campus Grotto. This was a first for our students to celebrate a Mass outside. I was so proud of their behavior and participation. Our senior students were able to sit alongside their Lower Campus buddies to celebrate Mass. It was truly a joyous occasion.

Blessings,
Mrs. Santarelli

INTRODUCING THE LANCER SPIRIT TROPHY
Who will win the inaugural Lancer Spirit Cup?

School spirit is in the air at SJCA high school this week as each class is working hard to win the first ever Lancer Spirit Cup. In this new Homecoming tradition, each class earns points by dressing up on theme days, by participating in various fun class activities and by winning the all-important float competition. Bragging rights and the Lancer Cup will be awarded to the class who earns the most points this week.

The seniors are currently in first place, with the sophomores close behind. There’s still plenty of time for the juniors and freshman to catch up as Homecoming week continues. The winning class will be announced at the Homecoming Game on Saturday.

This new tradition has certainly inspired a little friendly competition and a whole lot of Lancer Pride. Mr. Freund and Mrs. Witthun can't wait to award the first Lancer Cup!
