Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. One of the best ways to stay informed is to read the weekly newsletter and the daily Fast Facts as they are the quickest, easiest way to learn what is happening every day at school. If you are not receiving the Fast Facts, please check your email spam. If these messages are not in your spam, please send an email to development@sjcawi.org  including your name, your student's name and grade, and your email.

Also, we're trying a new READ MORE format with our longer newsletter submissions. Please bear with us as we continue to upgrade our format. Thank you!

Welcome Back! The hallways and classrooms are overflowing with anticipation, excitement, and boundless energy.    As we begin the 2019-2020 school year, SJCA remains focused not only on our mission to build Scholars, Leaders, and Stewards who will transform the world but also on building community. Every single member of the SJCA family is important and valued. We are grateful and honored that you have entrusted your students to us.
Middle School News
Mr. Rizzo
All signs point to an incredible and productive start with our students, and I feel so blessed to be back with you for another year. As I reflect on the past year, my first year at SJCA, our school's dedication to Academics, Service and Christ-Centered Values are just a few of the many great things that truly stand out. I am looking forward to a great year with all of you. Together, let's continue to make SJCA an even better place for our children to grow and learn.
Lower Campus News
Mrs. Santarelli
Welcome back to the start of our 10th year of learning at St. Joseph Catholic Academy. To our new SJCA families, I want to extend a warm welcome, and those returning, we welcome you back! It's been a wonderful first few days. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we all adjust to our morning and dismissal procedures. The staff and I are dedicated to helping each family transition into the new school year.
Counseling Center News
College planning season is in full swing. For juniors and their parents, this is the beginning of the college search process. College representative visits, college fairs and campus visits are the first steps in figuring out students' "best fit" schools. For seniors and their parents, these same activities are a way to finalize the list of where students' apply and eventually decide to attend college.
COLLEGE REP VISITS
SJCA hosts many college representative visits throughout the year. For juniors and seniors to attend, they need to do the following:
  1. Register for a visit in Naviance
  2. Pick up a green pass in the Counseling Center and have your teacher sign the pass.)
  3. Go to Counseling Center, sign in, and meet the rep.

A list of college rep visits is available in Naviance under the Colleges tab and is updated regularly. Also, college representative visits are listed on the daily Fast Facts.

WISCONSIN EDUCATION FAIR
We are excited to invite all Junior and Senior students to the Wisconsin Education Fair hosted by Carthage College on October 15 at 9 a.m. Counselors will be in the classrooms speaking to students about the fair and handing out permission slips. Students must have permission slips signed and turned in prior to 9/27. There will be admissions counselors from colleges all over that country in attendance, additionally there will be military recruiters and financial aid professionals to speak with.

OFFICIAL CAMPUS VISITS
Visits to prospective schools allow students to experience campus life and often can be the very best indicator to determine the perfect fit for each student. Please register for formal tours or visits on each college's website under the admissions tab.
SENIOR MEETINGS and PARENT NIGHT
SJCA counselors will meet with senior parents on Wednesday evening, September 11th, in the Buri-Nelson Theater at 6:30 p.m. Please mark your calendars for this very important event. We are thrilled to have two college admissions counselors who will be talking about the college admissions/application process. More details will be sent out next week.

Counselors will be meeting with senior students next week during Theology classes. Additionally, the counselors will meet individually with each student during September and October to discuss the application process and next steps needed in his/her college acceptance journey.

JUNIOR PARENT NIGHT
This event is scheduled for second semester. It is a great time to learn more about college planning for your student.

We're looking forward to a great year. As always, please feel free to contact your counselor for questions.
