Career Education Updates

Hello from San Jose City College! We hope you are all doing well and staying safe. We've all faced many challenges and changes this year - but we want to assure you that our Division is still here to support you.

As we start the Fall 2020 semester, we wanted to reach out and provide you with some college updates. You are probably aware that our campus is closed. This means the majority of our employees are working remotely and almost all classes are online. However, our allied health labs (Dental Assisting, EMS, Medical Assisting) are on campus and the college will be providing some essential services. For instance, we have opened up the Career Closet on Tuesdays, from 3-5 PM. If you are interested in donating, or need professional clothes for an interview, please visit our web page at www.sjcc.edu/home/careercloset to see details.

Aside from the alumni page, there are two additional important school web pages that I'd like to encourage you to visit on a regular basis:

The first page offers employment resources that you're welcome to utilize. The second page encompasses upcoming virtual events sponsored or supported by our division. It also includes links to our job fairs, previous open houses, etc.

We Need Your Help!

We are asking for your help in three areas:

We are in the design development phase for a new Career Education Complex, which will be built at San Jose City College. This new facility will include instructional classrooms, dining options, co-working spaces, and outdoor areas available to all of the SJCC community. To guide the design of our new complex, we are asking for your input on a few questions. To take the survey, go to menti.com and type in code 78 19 15. The survey will be open until Thursday, September 10.

As you may be aware, San Jose City College will be celebrating our 100th anniversary next year. We are looking for alumni who would be willing to share their success story. If you're interested, please contact our Director of Marketing & Public Relations, Daniel at Daniel.Garza@sjcc.edu.

The San Jose-Evergreen Community College District is still accepting donations to help support our students affected by COVID-19. As we start the fall semester, with students who continue to struggle due to the COVID pandemic, in addition to those displaced by the regional fires, this need is even more impactful. If you're able, please make a donation that can help a student stay in school to receive their certificate or degree!

Practice with a volunteer interviewer (Manager, Director, Vice President, CEO, etc.)
Interviewers will be matched to your area of interests
Interview questions will relate to your area of interest
Interviewers will provide specific feedback to help you prepare for the real job interview.

Prior to your interview, please send us your LinkedIn profile, resume, a job description, and information on your desired focus areas to tailor your session. If you don't have a LinkedIn profile or a resume, please contact Steven.Lee@sjcc.edu.
