Dear St. Joseph Elementary School Parents,

Today at around 1:30 pm, my heart felt whole again when the sixth grade class returned from Caritas. All week long there has been a hole in our family as our students have been away learning, growing and bonding. Caritas is such an important "right of passage'" for our students.  But, I really miss the students when they are out.

We are in the last weeks of our school year.  The days will be extremely busy and we ask you to help reinforce the importance for the students to stay focused and engaged.  There is still lots of learning to be done in the last five weeks. We will have lots of fun as well!

Our school calendar will be published soon for the 2019-20 school year.  When published, it will be on the parent portal of our website. In the meanwhile, please note that the first day of school will be August 21.

I hope all of you were able to read Father George's letter with the very exciting announcement that Ms. Francisco will be the new principal for SJES.  Her leadership and continuity will be much appreciated as we live out the SJES mission to educate the whole child: mind, body and spirit. She will continue to take our school and your children to the next level of great.

Finally, the month of May is dedicated to our Blessed Mother, Mary.  We begin to honor her at our May Crowning on Friday, May 10 at 9:30 am.  Our eighth grade class will host the Mass, as this event begins their eighth grade graduation festivities.   Please come join us in the Basilica as we crown our Queen.

God's Blessing on Each of Us,

Dr. Marquita Yriarte
