Dear Parents of Saint Joseph Students,
Parent/Teacher Conferences are such an important part of building a working partnership between Home and School. It reinforces what we discussed at last night’s parent/school partnership meeting. For those who were not able to make it, we discussed the importance of communication. Going to the source is always the place to start. If you have an issue with the school or a person at the school, please reach out to the school first. We will always get back to you.
This coming week is Parent/Teacher conference week. Let us continue to build our partnership with productive meetings focused on our common goal- the students. On Tuesday, you will be receiving a hard copy of your child’s report card for the First Trimester. I encourage you to plan questions for your conferences so that your time is used wisely. A good question to reflect upon is:
“How can we work together? How can I support you as a teacher?”
Again, effective communication is key. In fact, it is THE most important thing you can do at the conference. Conferences are often rushed and this is your opportunity to establish an open line of communication with your child’s teacher. Agree on how often you will communicate and via what method (email, phone, in person etc). Establishing this criteria upfront will help make for smoother communication between parents and teachers.
I look forward to a productive week of partnership!
God’s Blessing on Each of Us,
Dr. Marquita Yriarte
