SJNA Grants $250 for Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Neighbors Helping Neighbors PDX is a small group of North Portland Peninsula community volunteers who come together to bridge the gap between housed and houseless neighbors by providing trash removal for houseless encampments (tents, cars, RVs) as well as provide sandwiches, water and seasonally appropriate clothing when available.

Their goals:
  1. reduce friction between neighbors
  2. improve neighborhood livability
  3. provide a safer and healthier environment for unsheltered folks
  4. encourage interaction and mutual respect between our neighbors.

Houseless Defense Hotline

After the wake of several act arson against houseless neighbors in the St. Johns community, a hotline has been set up to provide emergency assistance for houseless neighbors at risk.

All neighbors are encouraged to be mindful and watchful of houseless community members. Establish connections and familiarities with your houseless neighbors. A close knit community is a safe and healthy community.

Neighbors are also advised to report any suspicious activity. DO NOT APPROACH ALONE. Instead, call authorities or the hotline to report any and all concerns. Donations always welcome.
