Christian of the Month
The Christian of the Month Award recognizes students who display good character on a consistent basis and serve as student role models throughout the month. Students are nominated by their teachers based on the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Students chosen to receive this award will be acknowledged for their accomplishment in the monthly newsletter. Students will receive a dress down pass, Christian of the Month Certificate, Applebee's certificate. The students will be recognized in the monthly newsletter.
Preschool's Christian of the Month is Gunnar Navratil. Gunnar is an excellent student who is always looking to help his friends. He truly loves all of his friends and tries his very best to be a great role model. In school he enjoys coloring, painting and making crafts. Outside of school, he is the oldest of two children and often enjoys jumping on his trampoline and wrestling. He loves spending time with his parents and his Nanny. Congratulations Gunnar!
Caroline Montgomery is Kindergarten Blue's March Christian of the Month. Caroline is a very eager student. She pays attention during lessons, asks questions to make sure that she understands everything, and always raises her hand to volunteer. Caroline is good at listening and following directions. Caroline always uses her good manners with both teachers and students. She is a kind friend to everyone. Caroline is the first to play with someone who is alone, the first to ask someone if they need help, the first to comfort anyone who is sad, and the first to offer words of encouragement for others. Caroline's positivity is contagious to everyone around her! Outside of school Caroline takes piano lessons, is a yellow belt in karate, and plays soccer for TAYSA. Caroline loves soccer and is great at scoring goals. Caroline is the best little sister. She loves her big brother very much. Caroline loves coming to school at SJRS and she loves her teachers. In her free time Caroline enjoys reading, doing arts and crafts, and shopping. Way to go Caroline!
Kindergarten Gold's Christian of the Month is Lacey Dever. Lacey always has a smile on her face. She is a hard worker and is very creative. Lacey is always willing to give a helping hand. At home, Lacey belongs to the Performing Arts Center where she is learning tap and ballet. Lacey also belongs to the Shooting Stars Gymnastics. Lacey is kindhearted towards anyone and everyone. She is such a happy kid who loves life. Congratulations, Lacey!
Ace McHugh is First Grade Blue Christian of the Month. He does his very best each day in school. He is a very conscientious student. He helps his classmates and has a great sense of humor. He has a great chuckle. He enjoys learning and his classmates. At home he enjoys all sports. He plays all positions on the TAYSA soccer team. He enjoys helping at home. Congratulations Ace! Keep up the good work!
Katerina Kirk is Christian of the Month for First Grade Gold. In the classroom, Katerina completes her work, puts forth great effort, and is always willing to participate. She shows great enthusiasm for learning. Her classmates describe her as caring and loving. Outside of school, Katerina participates in Tamaqua Area Youth Soccer and takes gymnastics at Tumble with Denise. When she grows up, Katerina wants to be a baker. She loves to read, play with her baby sister, Aria, and to travel, especially to the beach and to Disney. Congratulations Katerina!
The Christian of the Month in Grade 2 Blue is Adalyn Bones. Ady always jumps in to help whenever there is a need. She likes to help her classmates whenever she can. Adalyn saw that the classroom floor needed cleaning. It would get very dirty after outside recess. She took it upon herself to bring in Swiffer pads to mop the classroom floor. Our classroom floor has been clean ever since! Adalyn is a hard-working, dedicated student and always tries her best. Ady is an enthusiastic learner, and loves being in the classroom. Math and Reading are her favorite subjects. Outside of school, Ady loves dancing and is currently participating in her 3rd year on the Impact Dance Team at Dance with Kim School of Performing Arts, and this is her first year on the Aquamarine Team. She loves all forms of dance but Jazz is her favorite. Ady also loves swimming and is a proud member of the Tamaqua Blue Waves Swim Team. At home, Ady loves drawing and painting, and is always creating new art projects with her Dad. She especially loves making homemade cards for all her family, her teacher, and friends. Ady has the best personality and is funny, loving, and caring. She loves spending time with her friends, and she is the best and most loving sister to her big sister, Ella. CONGRATULATIONS, ADY!
The second-grade gold Christian of the Month for March is Robert Paton. Robert is a very good student. He works hard and always does his best. He is enthusiastic and has a great imagination. Robert is kind and respectful to his classmates and the adults with whom he interacts. When he’s not in school, Robert plays baseball with Anthracite Little League. He belongs to St. Joseph of the Panther Valley in Summit
Hill where he recently received Reconciliation. Robert enjoys swimming, fishing, and hunting with his dad. Robert’s favorite trip was when he went fishing on Lake Ontario. He also enjoys school. Math is his favorite subject, but he also loves to learn about other countries. Robert is always eager to help at home and his community. He volunteered at St. Luke’s Miners Veterans breakfast. He also won first place in an art contest from FSCLA. Robert loves to spend time with his family and friends.
The Christian of the Month for third grade for the month of March is Jaxen Schaeffer. Jaxen is a hard-working and determined athlete and plays both baseball and basketball for Tamaqua. Jaxen also enjoys roller blading, and riding his bicycle and dirt bike. He enjoys playing rummy cards and board games with his family, and Roblox games on his ipad with friends. Jaxen collects baseball cards and loves watching Marvel movies- his favorite superhero is Spider-Man. His two favorite snacks are blueberries and popcorn. Jaxen is looking forward to the summer off from school to swim and go to the beach! In the classroom, Jaxen is respectful and responsible, follows all the classroom rules, and loves to participate! Congratulations Jaxen!
Fourth Grade's Christian of the Month for March is Lilly Gallagher. In school, Lilly is a hard-working student who is always willing to help out her classmates or her teacher. Lilly can always be relied on to participate in class and is not afraid of being wrong. She takes great pride in learning from her mistakes, an admirable quality. Outside of school, Lilly is a member of the TNT Studio of Dance, where she has been dancing for seven years. She studies jazz, ballet, tap, and hip hop. She was recently invited to join the ballet team and continues to work toward pointe ballet. When she isn't dancing, you can find her singing, drawing, painting, or crafting. She is an amazing big sister to her two little brothers, especially her new baby brother, and loves spending time with them and her entire family. Lilly is known for her bright, infectious smile, bubbly spirit, kind heart, and generosity for others. Congratulations, Lilly! We are so proud of you!
Maiya Vavro is the fifth grade Christian of the Month for March. Maiya is a very respectful student. She is very helpful and always happy. She enjoys playing with her dogs and cat. She also enjoys playing volleyball with her friends. Congratulations Maiya!
Joseph Lashock is the Christian of the Month for Sixth Grade. Joey joined our class this year along with his brother and sister. He is very mannerly and respectful and he always tries his best. Joey has many interests outside of school. He participates in Cub Scouts, baseball, karate, and soccer. He attained the Wolf Level in Cub Scouts and placed 2nd and 3rd in the Pinewood Derby. He also has been playing the trumpet for three years. He attended the Ferrwood Music Camp in order to continue his musical interests. He loves the outdoors, and his interests include hiking, camping, and spending time around a fire. Vacationing to historic sites, museums, beaches, and scenic areas are some of his biggest enjoyments. Joey understands his responsibilities to his family and his community. Congratulations, Joey!
Bryce Gallagher is the 7th Grade Christian of the Month for March. Bryce is a conscientious student who always has his work completed in a timely manner. He is very polite and respectful in his interactions with his teachers and classmates. Bryce was a member of the Marian Catholic Junior High Cross Country Team and Track and Field. He has been playing violin for six years. Bryce participates in a monthly rosary group. Bryce enjoys camping, roller skating and riding bikes. During the summer, he helps a farmer. Congratulations, Bryce!
Teaghan Biros is the 8th Grade Christian of the Month. Always smiling, Teaghan displays a cheerful attitude and is kind to everyone in class. She is a fabulous student always putting forth her best effort. Teaghan is a member of St. St Joseph's Parish in Sheppton, where she is an altar server. She is a member of the GHYSA Lightning Soccer team playing midfield and forward. She also plays defense for the Hazleton Hawks Lacrosse. Teaghan dances for the Performing Arts Center in Conyngham taking ballet-pointe and hip hop. She plans to attend Marian High School. Congratulations, Teaghan!
