Dear Parents-

We will undergo our Diocesan mandated safety audit this week, however, we are proactive in the area of student safety, and continue to make safety upgrades as appropriate. We have added the Raptor Visitor Management System to our visitor sign-in process. Visitors will still ring the doorbell to gain access to the parish office lobby. Once inside the lobby, visitors will have their driver’s license scanned and their identity checked against an offender database, before gaining access to the school. All visitors, including parents, who want to access the school, will be asked to scan their driver’s license, and wear the ID badge generated by the Raptor System. Please use this link to read the parent information letter.

A tip of the hat to Mrs. Mann, Mrs. Kohler and the entire 4th grade for their impressive Parade of Saints performance. Students dressed in costumes representing their favorite saints, and each student gave a brief description of the saint’s life and ministry. No matter how many times I hear about the life of a saint, I always learn something new!!

Conferences are scheduled to begin tomorrow. All conferences are scheduled for 15 minutes in length. Out of respect for everyone’s schedule, I ask both teachers and parents to stay mindful of the time and please stay on schedule. If you need additional time, please schedule another time to meet.

Students in grades 5-8, visited with Our Lord last Friday. Mrs. Daughtrey prepared our worship guide and Father Alberto exposed the Blessed Sacrament to students in grades 5 and 6, and celebrated Benediction and reposed the Blessed Sacrament with students in grades 7 and 8. Spending time with Jesus, truly and completely present in the Blessed Sacrament is an important part of our faith formation, as is learning how to be present with Our Lord in extended prayer, as well as quietly listening for Him. All students participated in the songs and prayers, and I was very proud of them.

The Middle School Ministry (grades 6-8) is sponsoring their next event, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 9th, from 7:00-8:15 in our school gym. Students are invited to join in team building activities that involve earning clues about saints to piece together three stories. Contact Mrs. Power at singerpie@aol.com if you have any questions.

Scouting for Food Drive runs this week, sponsored by Boy Scout Pack 913. If possible, please consider donating non-perishable food items that will support families in need in the Herndon community. The drive ends Friday, and a popcorn party awaits the class with the most donations!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Rejoice and Be Glad!

Halloween Candy Collection
for Deployed Service Members and Veterans
Are you candied out from Halloween?? Why not donate that candy to a great cause? Soldiers' Angels Treats for Troops Program will ship your donated candy to deployed service members around the world or distribute to veterans in VA Hospitals across the country for a sweet treat.

Absolute Business Solutions Corp (ABSc) is Teaming Up with Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops to Collect Halloween Candy for Troops and Veterans. ABSc is proud to announce that they are an official drop-off site for Halloween candy to support the Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops program!

The program collects extra Halloween candy and ships it to deployed service members around the world for a sweet treat from home. “Angel” volunteers from the organization will also distribute candy to veteran patients in VA Hospitals across the country.

Once Halloween wraps up, drop off your extra candy to our location at 560 Herndon Parkway Suite 240, Herndon, VA and we will make sure the candy gets to Soldiers’ Angels to help support their vision: May No Soldier Go Unloved.

Although this gesture may seem small, it is a wonderful way to remind our men and women in the Armed Forces, as well as veterans of all eras, that we are all thankful for the services and sacrifices they have provided for our country and our families.
