I hope all our SJS families enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving break, and we now move into the
watchful and joyful season of Advent.
The 1st Sunday in Advent Gospel reminds us of the level of anticipation and watchfulness that the birth of Christ requires. I was reading an Advent devotional and the author described Advent as a “soft” and “gently subdued” time…”It is as if we sit by the window and pull back the curtain just enough to peek out in the sure knowledge that Christ will be walking toward us soon.” (Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles). We can often find ourselves overwhelmed by all we want to accomplish to get ready for Christmas, so it is helpful to be reminded that we need to be soft and gentle as we watch and wait, for Him.
The first week in Advent is also the perfect time to celebrate
