Bernie's Bark

Dear Parents-

Happy second week of Advent! I was reading an interesting article on the complimentary natures of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the Second Sunday of Advent. We were blessed this past weekend when we celebrated these two events on consecutive days, and are reminded that each event fills us with the hope of our salvation.

Report cards went home on Friday, Dec. 7th. Parents may keep the report card. Please sign and return the envelope. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

I am happy to report the following update on school safety improvements. We have installed the Raptor visitor screening system, which will allow us to have immediate screening of individuals who want to enter the building. Additionally, the Raptor system will help us keep track of volunteers in the building and better prepare us to account for everyone in the event of an emergency.

Please join us for Mass on Wednesday, Dec. 12th, at 9:30, as we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas. The 5th grade has been working hard along with Senora Denmark to prepare the liturgy!

The Christmas Concert is Friday, December 14th in the school gym, at 7:00. Please join us for an evening of faith-filled and time honored Christmas songs. Mr. Pena-Ariet and the children have been hard at practice and this is sure to be a great event. Students should wear their Sunday best, and are expected to arrive by 6:45. Students should report to their classrooms upon their arrival.

The PTO is sponsoring the SJS Winter Warmth Drive. Unwrapped hats, new or gently worn clean coats, gloves and scarves can be dropped off as you enter the Christmas concert. All items will be donated to needy families and will be greatly appreciated during this time of year!

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that Mr. Pena-Ariet announces the Jr. choir (4th 5th 6th) will start after Christmas break . Rehearsals will be Wednesday after school 3:30 - 4:30 and lunch/recess on Thursdays.

Rejoice and Be Glad!
