Dear Parents-
Thank you for joining in our pre-Christmas celebration by attending the
Christmas concert
! It was wonderful to see so many of you, and I know you feel as I do that the concert was amazing and the children were exceptional performers! Special thanks to Mr. Carlos Pena-Ariet for preparing the children and Mrs. Ellen Salatino for her accompaniment on the piano. Also, a grateful thank you for the many donations to the PTO Warmth Drive. All items will be distributed to needy families through LINK.
The pre-Christmas celebration continues with the
band concert
on Wednesday evening, at 7:00 PM in the parish hall. Both the beginner and advanced bands will perform concert favorites that we know and love! I hope to see you there.
With Christmas now just days away, I know many students are awaiting the latest in technology gifts. I am reaching out to ask for your support in not allowing your child to wear an
Apple Watch
to school. According to Apple, Inc., with an Apple Watch
you can talk to other compatible Watch users with the Walkie-Talkie app, make and receive phone calls and texts, use Siri and stream from Apple Music and Apple Podcasts
.
Students are not permitted to access phones and computers during the day without adult supervision, and an Apple Watch circumvents this policy. The official school handbook will be updated, effective immediately, to specifically include Apple Watches, and they will fall into the same category as cell phones.
At this hectic time of year, we are dealing with a particular safety issue, and again, need your support. If you wish someone other than yourself or your emergency contact person to pick up your child, you MUST inform the front office, as
written parent permission
is required in order to release a student in this situation. This includes playdates, etc. We had several occasions in the past week where parents came into the office to pick up several students for playdates and we can not release children to unauthorized adults! This policy applies to pick up from Extended Day as well.
On behalf of Mrs. Carson and myself, along with the faculty and staff of St. Joseph Catholic School, I want to wish all of you a
very merry and blessed Christmas
! May this time with your families bring you much joy as we rejoice in the arrival of Our Savior.
Reminder that we dismiss for the Christmas break on Friday, Dec. 21 at 3:15. Afternoon Extended Day is closed.
Classes resume Thursday, January 3, 2019
. The second Scantron testing window opens Monday, January 7th.
Rejoice and Be Glad!

Noah Pearce (Class of 2017)
Competed on It's Academic!
Noah Pearce was chosen as one of the best and brightest to represent Paul VI High School on the renown tv quiz show,
It's Academic! Noah and his team spent long hours preparing for the show which aired this past weekend on NBC4. Currently, Noah has his sight set on studying aerospace engineering and aviation in college.
For those of you that don't know Noah, he is very quiet but once you get to know him, you will discover his dry sense of humor that will keep you laughing! Did you know he's been a competitive bowler since he was 5 years old? His high score is 245! Anyone up for challenging Noah not only on his intellect but his athletic ability in bowling?
Noah is a very active SJS alum! He participates as an altar server and lector for
St. Joseph Catholic Church and is heavily involved in the church youth group.
We are so proud of you, Noah!
Go, Saints! Go, Panthers!

We would love to hear from our alumni!
