Dear Parents-
It was with great pride that we were able to induct ten 8th grade students into the SJS chapter of the
National Junior Honor Society. Please join me in congratulating Jake A., Andrea L., Jack M., Emily D., Alexa S., Erik R., Jerry F., Claire B., Zach B., and Maya M. These students demonstrate a level of achievement and are well prepared for success at the next level.

We had quite a few CSW activities that we wanted to
reschedule
. The Talent Show is planned for Friday, February 15, from 1:30-3:00. Corey the Dribbler will visit with students on April 4, and all the dress-out days are accounted for, ending with the red, white and blue dress out on Tuesday, February 19.
Our service project during CSW was the
food collection for LINK
. The drive was very successful, and the St. Joseph Catholic School community donated over 25 boxes of food to support LINK’s mission to deliver emergency food to those in need in our community! Four SUVs were packed with food - one of our biggest donations, ever! Thank you, Saints!
Also, snowed out during CSW was
Coffee with the Principal
. Mark your calendar for March 1 and join me, Father Tom, and Mrs. Farrell as we discuss conflict and bullying. Our goal is to establish a meaningful dialog between home and school to address important school climate issues and develop a plan to identify concerns and affect change.
Mrs. Pearce is in the process of printing the
Scantron
score reports and these will come home on Friday, February 15. A comparison of scores over time indicates that students tend to score lower on Scantron tests during the January session than they did in the fall. Changes in scores that are within 100 points are statistically not something to worry about, according to Scantron. The important number is the scaled score, as that is the only number that can be compared over time, from test to test. Even the NPR is based on the norm group used at the time, and norm groups change from year to year. If you have questions about your child’s performance on the Scantron tests, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
The
renovations
in the church are almost complete, and we look forward to moving back to the church for school Mass within the next week or so. In the meantime, please feel free to join us on Friday, 2/15, in the gym, to celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Rucker and I continue to partner with the Office of Catholic Schools to upgrade and improve
school safety
. Additional safety protocols will go into effect shortly, including an upgrade of internal communications. There is no threat to our community, but the mandate from the Office of Catholic Schools is that our students should be at least as safe as public school students. We take our responsibility to student safety very seriously.
The PTO is working very hard to create a very special
Spring Fling Gala and Auction
for our community. There are amazing auction items already donated and ready to go, and the teachers are hard at work to create wonderful and priceless options for silent auction bidding as well! If you haven’t already, please mark your calendar for April 6. Our theme is Rejoice and Be Glad, which has defined our year, and we are overjoyed to be associated with this amazing parish!
Sometimes it becomes necessary for parents to
pick up students ahead of dismissal
time. Please remember that you are kindly asked that if you must pick up early, please pick up your child before 2:45. Please notify your child’s teacher, in writing, of the change in dismissal. Students will be called to the office after a parent arrives to pick up. Please arrive prior to 2:45 pm, as students cannot be called to the office once dismissal begins.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Planning is well underway for our school’s largest annual fundraiser! Please join us to help make this year’s Spring Fling Auction a huge success. We invite all Saint Joseph Catholic School families to join in the occasion by attending and contributing to this event. All proceeds from the event will benefit our children. Please help us multiply our talents as a family and give, as you are able, to further our children’s educational experience here at St. Joseph Catholic School.
Consider making a donation to the auction
~ Contribute a family donation of an item, a basket, service, use of a vacation home, airline miles, join together with a fellow friend/family to create something to donate together…let your imagination go wild. You can also place a personalized family ad in the program.
