Bernie's Bark
Dear Parents-
As a faith-filled community, we have arrived at Holy Week, the most important week in the Church year! During this solemn week, we pause and reflect on the enormity of the events that take place from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. In this one week, we commemorate the passion and death of Jesus Christ, we are given the sacraments of the Eucharist and Holy Orders, and we celebrate with great joy the resurrection of our Lord! To complete our Lenten journey, the Stations of the Cross can be prayed at any time and are available here: Father Tom shared that Holy Week Family activities can be found at HolyWeek@Home Experience : Family Activities & Prayer during the Coronavirus Shutdown - Easter Sunday Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM Live Stream on Facebook,
ZOOM has experienced some security breaches, and they are addressing those by changing default settings and other improvements to security and privacy policies. However, students and families play a role in protecting ZOOM call information. Please do not allow students, or anyone, to post ZOOM links, meeting codes or any other identifying information on Facebook or other social media platforms. Anything posted on the internet should be considered to be in the public domain. It can be copied and publicly shared, even if posted on a closed page. Now, as much as ever, we need to protect and monitor children using the internet.

I mentioned last week that the Office of Catholic Schools has set aside five days of professional development for teachers. Those days should occur between April 20 and June 10. In consultation with the faculty and staff, as well as with Father Tom, St. Joseph Catholic School will not have distance learning on these Fridays: May 1, May 8, May 15, May 29 and June 5. Students can use the time to log onto the google classrooms to complete missing work, and work on encore assignments. There will be no live classes.

School will close Thursday, April 9, at 11:30 for Easter break. There are no classes nor will lessons or assignments be posted during the break. We will see you back here on Monday, April 20 as we countdown the rest of the school year!

I wish all of our St. Joseph families a very blessed Holy Week, and a joyous Easter. Take comfort in the fact that God is in charge.

Alleluia! He is Risen!

Welcome one Christ welcomed you!

Fighting Back Against Coronavirus
Practicing social distancing and wearing CDC recommended face masks,
Mrs. Wright, aided by Miss Stump and Mr. Reynolds, loaded all the clorox wipes, sanitizers and cleaning products that teachers cleaned out of their classrooms.
On behalf of the SJS community, these much needed supplies were donated
to doctors' offices in Reston. Totaling more than 15 boxes of supplies,
Mrs. Wright could not fit another thing into her car!

The doctors were overwhelmed by the donation and
grateful for the support and generosity of our community!
April - Month of the Military Child

“Purple Up! For Military Kids” Day! Wednesday April 22, 2020

The COVID -19 pandemic should not
keep us from coming together to
celebrate military connected children.
Each year schools join in solidarity to
support military connected children.

On April 22, 2020 schools and communities are encouraged to wear purple and this could
continue even when we are under quarantine. Purple represents the blending of the colors of the five branches of our armed forces. Here in Virginia, we are proud to be home to Air Force,Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, National Guard and Reserve families.
