Dear Parents-
Easter Blessings as we celebrate the Fifth Sunday of Easter! On Wednesday we will celebrate the anniversary of the appearance of our
Blessed Mother
to three young children in the village of Fatima, Portugal. Through the six visits with the children, Our Lady calls on us to find salvation through prayer. It’s a simple message..pray. Our Lady told the three children at Fatima that salvation is promised to those with a devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and who pray the rosary.
Father Tom and Father David will live stream the May crowning on Wednesday, May 13, as we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Join us for the Celebration of May Crowning and Rosary, Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at noon. Live stream at

Last week we celebrated National Teacher Appreciation Week, and took time out of our hectic schedules to say
“Thank You” to the incredibly dedicated teachers
that serve our students every day. I am thankful for their commitment to the best interests of the children, and their willingness to work tirelessly to meet the needs of students, making St. Joseph Catholic School a warm, loving, and inclusive environment. This year, an extra special shout out to
all our parents
who are tirelessly partnering with the teachers to minimize the impact of the school shut-down on students. From the beginning we knew the only way through this was together……! Thank you, parents!!
I hope all moms were able to enjoy a
Happy Mother’s Day
on Sunday, surrounded by all your children! And if you feel overwhelmed from time to time by all the uncertainty that surrounds everyday, treat yourself to a day without social media, or CNN, and enjoy these amazing people we call our kids!
Last week, I invited parents to participate in a survey regarding the distance learning. Your feedback will help us to evaluate the current
distance learning
program, and make adjustments, so that should we ever need it again, we all feel prepared! If you have not already, I invite you to complete a short survey to help inform our decisions. The survey can be found at

. Thank you.
Stay well, and please let me know if you have any questions.
Welcome one another....as Christ welcomed you!

Immunization update
:
Please look out for a letter that will be coming soon with a directive from the VDOE recommending that all parents/guardians
start now to contact their child's pediatrician to schedule
ahead
for a well visit appointment for their child's school entry required immunizations. There is a concern that if the usual required school entry immunization are not received, there is an increased chance of an outbreak of the diseases which these vaccination prevent in the midst of the management of the COVID-19 pandemic...we will share this letter once we receive it and know more

Welcome Saints!
Volunteers Needed
|
|
Starting at a new school can be overwhelming, not just for the students but for the entire family. To ease the transition for our new families, and make their experience positive from day one, we are asking for volunteers to become part of our "Welcome Saints" program!
As a veteran SJS family, you will be paired with a new family and help address questions they may have as well as share your experiences with them!
You will very likely have many questions - about the uniform, carpool, the dining hall, the extended day program, recess, textbooks, supplies, etc.
We pride ourselves on the many warm welcoming families we have at SJS - why not share that hospitality with our new families? Interested?
