I want to warmly welcome you to the start of our new school year! I hope that this Bark finds you well, rested, and energized! Time away with our families and loved ones renews our spirits and gives us a fresh perspective.
Today we celebrate the
Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord
, where Christ made His divinity known to His closest disciples. In celebrating this feast, we reflect on Christ as the “Light of the World,” and victorious over evil. We are so very blessed to be Catholic, and to openly live and practice our faith in this joy-filled community!
Our first play date at Bready Park to welcome our new kindergarteners was a huge success! We were lucky with the weather and it was wonderful to meet so many new families and also see so many familiar faces. Many thanks to Mrs. Mountcastle for the amazing job in planning this event. Our last play date before school starts is scheduled for
Tuesday, August 13 from 6:30-8:00PM
, and all our kindergarten families are invited to attend. I hope to see you there!
With the first day of school less than three weeks away, I am happy to make the following personnel announcements:
Please join me in welcoming
Miss Emma Lauderback
to our faculty as our new, full-time, shared, 2nd grade instructional assistant. Miss Lauderback is a 2019 graduate of Ave Maria University (FL), earning a bachelor’s degree in Theology and elementary education. She has worked as both a 1st and 2nd grade teaching assistant.
Also, I want to update you on staff reassignment.
Mrs. Elizabeth Low
will teach 7th grade social studies, and serve part-time as a kindergarten aide. Mrs. Low earned a bachelor's degree in aviation business management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (FL), a master's degree in education from Marymount University (VA), and she holds a VCEA teaching license.
I continue to interview to fill the remaining positions and will communicate through the Bark to keep you informed. Remember, the Bark and the SJS website are the only
official communication tools for accurate information
. School Messenger will be used for school closings and delays. If you have any questions, I am an email away. Please ask me.
We look forward to welcoming the newest members of the school community on
Thursday, Aug. 22
. Kindergarten orientation is at 9:00, and new student orientation is at 2:00. Parents of kindergarteners and first graders have Back to School Night at 7:00 in the classrooms.
Finally, don't forget that the teachers and staff look forward to seeing you at the
Meet and Greet on Sunday, Aug. 25 after the 8:30 Mass
. I hope you can stop by!
The next Bark will be published Tuesday, Aug. 20, and then every Tuesday thereafter. Should you have any questions, please let me know.
We welcome one another...as Christ welcomed you!
