Our guest speaker will be Dr. Doug Rowley, the husband of Pastor Pam. He will tell us when, why and how he started making ramps for the handicapped. Bring a dish, your own tableware, and a smile. Adults of all ages are welcome. Contact Lou McFall at firstname.lastname@example.org or 281-2552.
On February 16, join us for a fabulous snowshoeing excursion in the Valles Caldera up in the Jemez. This adventure will take us around the base of a large, wooded hill for a short, flat snowshoe experience geared primarily for beginners. Prior snowshoeing experience is not required. In the event that the Jemez has not gotten sufficient snowfall for snowshoeing, we will plan to hike in the same area, exploring the wooded hilltop and enjoying views of the fabulous Caldera.
Don't own showshoes? No problem! MST Adventures carries them for $20 for a full-day rental (the $20 includes ski poles and tax). If you would like to go this route, please let Melissa know by February 9 so that we can put in the order.
Please dress warmly (warm socks, hat, and gloves in addition to a warm winter coat) and bring water and a lunch or hearty snack. We will meet in the east parking lot at the church at 7:30 am, and carpool to the Caldera from here. Questions? Contact Melissa Madara at email@example.com
HOLY YOGA - Tuesdays at 5:30 pm and Thursdays at 9:45 am
Do you ever get restless trying to pray while sitting still? Try praying through movement! Holy Yoga meets every Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm, and every Thursday morning at 9:45 am. Tuesday's classes are a restful and restorative end to the day. Thursday's classes are more active, intended to energize and uplift for the day ahead. Beginners are welcome at both classes. All gear is provided - bring a mat if you have one that you like (otherwise, we have lots of mats!), and wear clothes that you can move comfortably in. Tuesday's class is a suggested $5 donation that goes toward the purchase of gear and supplies. Thursday's class is free and includes free childcare.
We will be joining together with Asbury UMC for our Tuesday night classes, making Holy Yoga a joint ministry between the two churches. Classes will be located as follows:
Feb 12 - St. John's
Feb 19 - Asbury
Feb 26 - St. John's

ORIENT/REORIENT: LEARNING ABOUT ST. JOHN’S
“What are our core Christian beliefs?” “What is special about being a Methodist?” “What is going on at St. John’s?” “Where do I fit in?”
These are key questions that newcomers ask about our church and we are having a class to discuss the answers. To
means to get direction and that’s the purpose of this class: What direction should I be going in my faith journey? Visitors and new members are the primary focus for the class, but those who have been around awhile may want to REORIENT and reenergize themselves by entering the discussion.
The class will take place on four Sundays right after last service and lunch will be provided. The first class will start
Sunday, March 3, 2019, and we’ll end on March 24.
We will meet in Rooms 149/151 from 12:15-1:30 PM, eat and fellowship, then discuss the topics (our Christian faith, Methodism, St. John’s, my place.)
To register for the class, sign up at the Hospitality Center or contact Jack and Carol Nuzum at 265-5241 or email@example.com
