Current Sermon Series: "The Radical Sayings of Jesus"
8:15 am, 9:30 am & 11:00 am
Mark 15:42-46 (NRSV)
The Burial of Jesus
42  When evening had come, and since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,  43  Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself waiting expectantly for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.  44  Then Pilate wondered if he were already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead for some time.  45  When he learned from the centurion that he was dead, he granted the body to Joseph.  46  Then Joseph bought a linen cloth, and taking down the body, wrapped it in the linen cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock. He then rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

Matthew 28:1-9 (NRSV)
The Resurrection of Jesus
28  After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.  And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.  His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.  For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men.  But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.  Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ This is my message for you.”  So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.  Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.

John 2:13-19 (NRSV)
Jesus Cleanses the Temple
13  The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.  14  In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables.  15  Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.  16  He told those who were selling the doves, “Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father’s house a marketplace!”  17  His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”  18  The Jews then said to him, “What sign can you show us for doing this?”  19  Jesus answered them, “ Destroy this temple , and in three days I will raise it up.”

During his time there, Dave met with many Indian leaders in the Delhi area, helped with the inoculation of hundreds of precious infants, and enjoyed the side-benefit of visiting the Taj Mahal, one of this world's seven man-made wonders. He'll be taking those who choose to attend St. John's Wednesday Night Live on April 24th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in room 149/151, on a whirlwind remembrance of that trip. Mission & Outreach

See what’s happening in April for missions at St. John’s! Come by the Hospitality Center to pick up your copy or download here .

For the month of April, we will be supporting many local ministries including the Food Pantry, Family Promise, St. Martin’s Hopeworks, Wesley House at UNM, Asbury Pie Caf é , Silver Horizons, and many others! As part of your Lenten discipline, please give generously.

Can you provide a meal for the students before Bible Study on a Tuesday night
sometime before May 2019? To sign up go to: http://bit.ly/unmwesley.

Our Mobile Food Pantry provides food for approximately 50 households each month, and our food pantry guests have become very special to us, over the years. Therefore, throughout April, we're collecting 6-roll packages of toilet tissue as a little "bonus" for these special guests. Please add toilet tissue to your shopping list, and place your donations in the shopping carts. We appreciate your generosity!

Our April food collection will benefit Silver Horizons, a non-profit organization that distributes, and sometimes delivers, free groceries to low-income seniors, some of whom may be homebound and/or caring for grandchildren.  Silver Horizons is always very appreciative of our donations, so in April, let's make a big effort to collect non-perishable food items, such as: canned meats; peanut butter; hearty soups; and powdered milk. Please place your donations in the shopping carts.  Thanks!
