THE HOME COMMUNION VOLUNTEERS MEET THIS SUNDAY!
We have an exciting new ministry starting up to empower volunteers to serve communion to our homebound members. Join us for a brief training on Sunday, February 23 from 12:15-1:00 pm in room 260 just ahead of the Safe Sanctuaries training at 1:00. Please contact Nancy Adams if you are interested but cannot attend: firstname.lastname@example.org.
ROOF REPAIR UPDATE
Replacement of the roof over the kitchen and the FLC will start Monday with demolition of the SW corner of section 4A, this will require removal of all the HVAC equipment in that area. The roof replacement will continue with the rest of 4A and then 4B. The Fish Fry operation will not be affected significantly. Starting Monday and continuing for about 2 weeks there will be periods of some noise and increased dust during daylight working hours Monday – Saturday. Based on our experience with the Education Wing it is not felt that this will halt use of the FLC. However, throughout the period there will be periods of reduced or no heat in the FLC. Again, it is felt that this should not appreciably affect FLC use. The Trustees want to thank our Contractors Rhino Roofing and Four Winds Mechanical for their efforts in getting the first half of the education wing completed and their careful coordination with the Pre School to keep them operating safely. Again please forward all issues or compliments to the Trustees, Jim Hickman and let the Contractors proceed with all deliberate speed.
OMELETTE SUNDAY - This Sunday
Omelette Bar will happen this Sunday!—Though possibly in a different part of the church due to the uncertainties of the roof construction. However, signs on Sunday will lead you to the Omelet Bar location if the sound of sizzling bacon or the smell of fresh cooked eggs doesn’t lead you there first! 8:00 am to 12:30 pm - only $5.
The Trustees are seeking trained law enforcement people, active or retired, to advise us on updating the St. John’s security. We are developing security plans and would welcome knowledgeable input. If interested please contact Jim Hickman at (505)400-6568.

1 CHRONICLES: THE EARLY HISTORY OF ISRAEL AND ITS TEMPLE
1 and 2 Chronicles are the history of Israel, as written by someone much more interested in music and singers than in wars and kings. In 1 and 2 Kings, we read about kings who occasionally go to the Temple. In 1 and 2 Chronicles, we read about the Temple and the singers, composers, and instruments heard there, and occasionally a king comes. Join us for a different look at the history of Israel as we study one of the lesser-read books of the Bible. Pick up a study guide in the Welcome Center, or call or write Regina Hunter at 294-2877, firstname.lastname@example.org, to join St. John’s largest on-going study. Study tips and scripture readings are emailed on weekdays, but we each read at a time of our own choosing.

PROPOSED SPLIT OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
"A diverse, 16-member group of United Methodist bishops and other leaders has offered a proposal that would preserve The United Methodist Church while allowing traditionalist-minded congregations to form a new denomination. The separating group would get $25 million in United Methodist funds and would keep its local church properties.
Details are in a nine-page “Protocol of Reconciliation & Grace Through Separation,” released Jan. 3 along with an FAQ and press release."

ORIENTATION CLASS: LEARNING ABOUT ST. JOHN’S
“What is special about being a Methodist?” “What is going on at St. John’s?” “Where do I fit in?”
These are key questions that newcomers ask about our church and we are having a class to discuss the answers. Visitors and new members are the primary focus for the class, but those who have been around awhile may want to reorient and re-energize themselves by entering the discussion. It's a great place to get to know others at St. John's as well.
The class will take place on four Sundays right after the last service, and lunch will be provided. The first class will start Sunday, March 8, 2020, and we’ll end on Sunday, March 29. We will meet in Rooms 149 from 12:15-1:30 pm, eat lunch together, and discuss the topics (our faith, Methodism, St. John’s, my place.) To register for the class, sign up in the Hospitality Center/FLC Table or contact Jack and Carol Nuzum at 265-5241 or email@example.com.
