Join the BISC This Summer!
Get all the benefits of the BISC experience like small class sizes, close contact with your professors, primary research opportunities, and experiential learning from the Kingston campus. Earn up to 9.0 units in an accelerated 6-week program (or take just 3.0 units in 2 weeks) that offers you the opportunity to focus on research and policy, community-based rehabilitation, and mental health.
Course enrolment is now open on SOLUS! When searching for BISC courses on SOLUS, change the campus default from “Main” to “Bader International Study Ctr.” All courses align with Queen’s degree plans, no transfer credit required.

Opportunities for 3rd Year Research Placements for 2021-22
Research-Based Practicum in Health Studies (HLTH 352/3.0) and Research-Based Practicum in Kinesiology (KNPE 352/3.0)
Application Deadline Friday, March 26th, 2021 at 4:00 pm
HLTH/KNPE 352 is designed to provide a research-based internship for students in Kinesiology or Health Studies who may be interested in working in the research labs and on research projects of SKHS faculty members.
HLTH/KNPE 352 is a 3.0 credit unit course which spans across both the fall and winter terms.

QHO x QIAA Needs Assessment Seminar

Queen’s Health Outreach (QHO) is proud to present the Needs Assessment Seminar in collaboration with Queen’s International Affairs Association (QIAA) for International Development Week.
A Needs Assessment is a systematic process for identifying needs in a community and is a tool commonly used in global health and international development. The first half of this seminar will feature a presentation and Q&A on the importance of Needs Assessments from Queen’s Alumni, Megan Butler. The second half of the presentation will feature a description of QHO’s Needs Assessment framework and an example of Needs Assessment use in one of QHO’s Northern Canadian community partnerships.

Graduate Opportunity
Drs. Francine Darroch (Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada) (Principal Investigator) and Audrey Giles (University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON, Canada) (Co-Investigator) are looking for a talented graduate student to work on their Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada-funded project entitled “Water bottles and baby bottles: A community-based research approach to understand experiences of parenting Olympians and Olympic hopefuls.”
The successful candidate will complete a qualitative research focused Master’s of Science in Health Sciences at Carleton University with Dr. Darroch, but she/he/they will be co-supervised by Dr. Giles. Applicants must have above 80% average for their last two or three years of undergraduate education and a degree in kinesiology or health sciences. Knowledge of (and a passion for!) the sport of track and field will be considered an asset.
This position will come with funding.

Project Coordinator - Campus Wellness Project - 12-16 Month Internship – May 2021 start
Summary: Reporting to the Project Lead, Campus Wellness Project, the Project Coordinator contributes to the success of the Campus Wellness Project initiatives and priorities by coordinating the development, planning and implementation of identified wellbeing-supportive projects, events and meetings.
Specifically, the incumbent will assist with the completion of initiatives related to the implementation of the National Standard for Mental Health and Wellbeing for Post-Secondary Students (the Standard). This is fantastic opportunity to learn about the challenges of assessing and implementing strategies to support student mental health while advancing the Standard at Queen's.
The incumbent will also fulfil related administrative and project tasks and provide support on priority campus wellness initiatives. The role also entails preparing communications, drafting reports and memos for a range of audiences, as well as other duties related to project execution.
This role might be of particular interest to students who are interested in mental health, personal wellbeing and student experiences.
