HAPPY 60TH ANNIVERSARY
BRUCE & SANDY MASON
| | |
On February 5th, we were honored to celebrate the 60th wedding anniversary of our wonderful volunteers, Bruce and Sandy Mason. At 90 years young, Bruce is our oldest volunteer, and Sandy faithfully served for many years on our Tuesday afternoon service and cleanup team.
The celebration was made even more special thanks to their son, Dan, who sponsored lunch for the day. We also enjoyed a beautiful cake for dessert featuring a photo of the bride and groom!
Bruce and Sandy, congratulations on six decades of love and commitment! We are so grateful to have such a devoted and caring couple as part of the SKIP family.
| | THANK YOU TO THE CAPE COD FOUNDATION | | | |
The Soup Kitchen in Provincetown is deeply grateful to the Cape Cod Foundation for its generous $15,000 Flexible Funding grant awarded this past September. This support allowed SKIP to purchase two new refrigerators and a freezer, improving our ability to store food safely, strengthen daily operations, and expand our home delivery program.
We are deeply grateful to Kristen O’Malley, Jeanne Lovy, and the entire team at the Cape Cod Foundation for their commitment to strengthening local nonprofits and caring for our most vulnerable residents. Their generosity helps make our work possible, and we are honored to have them as partners in our mission.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
LUNCH DELIVERY DRIVERS
| | |
The Soup Kitchen in Provincetown (SKIP) is looking for caring volunteers to join our Lunch Delivery Program. We provide healthy, nutritious lunches year-round to local residents who meet age and health requirements.
When We Deliver
- Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
- HOW volunteers cover Tuesdays
- We especially need drivers for Thursdays and Fridays
Each day, about 35 meals are delivered throughout Provincetown, including options for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, and unrestricted diets.
Why Volunteer?
Our guests are deeply grateful for these meals and for the friendly faces that deliver them. Many of our drivers say it’s one of the most rewarding ways they give back to the community.
Whether someone needs meals long-term or is recovering from surgery or illness, your help makes a real difference.

BOARD SPOTLIGHT
BRETT PARSON - BIG DEAL ON 3 WHEELS!
| | |
SKIP Board Member Brett Parson wrapped up the busy tourist season by donating $2,000 to SKIP’s Sponsor a Lunch Program. And he didn’t just write a check, he earned it the hard way by pedaling across town.
Last summer Brett launched his owner-operated company aptly named Helping Hand Pedicab. His business model is unique in that Brett offers free rides to all, asking only that passengers support one of three local nonprofits: The Soup Kitchen in Provincetown (SKIP), the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod (ASGCC), and the Provincetown Theater.
Brett chose these nonprofits because he actively volunteers with all three. In addition, he serves on the board of the Provincetown Council on Aging (COA) and is the chair of the 2026 Year-Rounders Festival, which will be held on Pi Day, March 14!
We are deeply grateful to Brett for his compassion, dedication to SKIP, and ongoing contributions to the Provincetown community.

GIVING THANKS
HONORING CATHERINE D'AMATO
| | |
After 30 years of leadership at the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), Catherine D’Amato, President of the GBFB, is retiring. She leaves behind a legacy that has transformed food access across Massachusetts and beyond. Under Catherine’s guidance, GBFB grew into one of the nation’s most impactful hunger-relief organizations, strengthening partnerships, advancing nutrition equity, and ensuring that millions of pounds of food reached communities that needed it most. Her vision and steadfast commitment helped redefine how food banks operate, not just as distributors of food, but as advocates for dignity, health, and systemic change.
For the Soup Kitchen in Provincetown, the GBFB has been a vital partner. Through this collaboration, SKIP receives up to 4,000 pounds of food each month, allowing us to consistently provide nutritious, high-quality meals to our guests. From fresh produce to pantry staples, this support plays a critical role in sustaining our daily service and meeting the growing needs of our community.
Thank you, Catherine D’Amato, for three decades of outstanding leadership in the fight against hunger and for your generous support of SKIP.

Please remember SKIP in your year end tax donations. We’re so grateful for your support - you make everything we do possible!
This year, your donations will continue funding weekday lunches, weekend to-go meals, and year-round meal delivery for those with mobility or health challenges.
