WELCOME BACK!

Hello SKIP guests, volunteers and supporters!

We are happy to announce that SKIP will reopen for its 31st season on Monday, November 7th. We will once again be serving from 12:30pm until 1:30pm in the dining room of the Provincetown United Methodist Church (PUMC) on 20 Shank Painter Road. Diners no longer need to wear masks. However, as part of our safety protocols, our volunteers will be required to wear masks while serving in the dining room. Please note that our Covid policy may be subject to revision if town or church protocols change.

We are making minor changes on takeout meals to help expedite service and ensure all patrons receive a hot meal. Read below for more details.

'Tis the season for us at SKIP where we start thinking about the holidays! Thanksgiving dinner is already being planned with turkeys on order and pies in the pantry! We are looking forward to serving up a feast! Planning for Souper Saturday is also in the works, more on that to come!

Thank you to all the volunteers, staff, board members, and donors who make our lunches possible.

See you soon!

Donna

WHAT'S COOKING

Greetings From Chef Gina!

Welcome back to SKIP! We are looking forward to greeting all the guests, volunteers and friends of SKIP in the next week. I am excited to begin this new season and have many delicious (hopefully!) meals planned. We have a full schedule of volunteers ready to cook and serve meals, and I am sure our guests will be happy to enjoy the community space offered at the church.

If you have a favorite meal from last year, or something new you'd like me to put on the menu, please let us know by filling out the poll below.

I am looking forward to another great season at SKIP. See you soon.

GUEST NEWS

We will be implementing new takeaway lunch procedures this season. There will be no more pre-boxed entrees. Those lunches often got cold and soggy while sitting out. All "to-go” lunches will be packed fresh as requested. Guests will go through the line and get their lunch  provided in a takeout container. This will assure our guests receive hot, fresh meals and will help us better control the portions. Soups and desserts will still be prepackaged. Guests will take their meals to the bagging table where they will close the box and bag it themselves. Please remember to bring your own bag, to help us save on the cost of packing materials. Thanks!

GIVING THANKS

Ron Ormsby & Bart Weisman

What a perfect night it was at The Club Provincetown for the second annual Music Gala Benefit for SKIP! The vibe was super festive, the food delicious, and oh the performers were world-class baby!!! Owner Frank Christopher, who is also a SKIP volunteer, came up with the idea for the music gala last year, and has committed to making this an annual event. His team of talented musicians that we’d like to thank personally for donating their time are Qya Cristal (vocals), Dennis Flaherty (vocals), Matt Hutchinson (piano), Ron Ormsby (bass), and our emcee and bandleader Bart Weisman (drums). Our deepest gratitude and jazz hands go up to Frank ChristopherEmily Minowitz and all of the musicians and staff of The Club Provincetown

Many thanks also to our wonderful local businesses who donated gift cards and raffle prizes: The Captain's Daughter, Wired Puppy, Conwell Hardware, The Club, and the Provincetown Brewing Company. Our gratitude also goes to Stop & Shop for donating the delicious cake to commemorate our 30 year milestone of service at SKIP, and to Mailspot Express for donating the posters!

We at SKIP, love our generous community and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

VOLUNTEER NEWS

WELCOME VOLUNTEERS!

The SKIP Volunteer Orientation was held on Tuesday, November 1st at the PUMC where we welcomed around 40 current and new volunteers. We reviewed new procedures and protocols as well as general SKIP policies. We have one new procedure of note to those who volunteer on the 2nd shift: we will be implementing a new position of Service Coordinator. This volunteer will work with chef Gina to help the serving shift run smoothly and to answer questions that come up. They will make sure all the positions are covered and will go over the day’s serving needs. This will keep people from saying “Hey Gina” multiple times during service and will avoid repetitive questions. Inquiries should be directed to the Service Coordinator on your shift.

Thank you in advance for your hard work and dedication!

If you are a new volunteer, please sign up in advance at skipfood.org/volunteer.
