Behind the Musical Q&A: ROCK OF AGES

Q: What is ROCK OF AGES about?
In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker and in LA's most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80s. It's ROCK OF AGES, an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of the 80s. Don't miss this awesomely good time about dreaming big, playing loud and partying on!

Q. Whose music will I hear in the show?
ROCK OF AGES features the tunes of all your 80s favorites, including REO Speedwagon, Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Poison, Foreigner, Pat Benatar,Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Whitesnake, Night Ranger, Quaterflash, Asia, Damn Yankees and more!

Q. What about the Original Broadway Cast Recording?
Ohmigod, it's so amazing.

Q: Is ROCK OF AGES appropriate for children?

ROCK OF AGES is a full-out, blast-off, hold-onto-your-hairspray celebration of the great rock music of the 80s, and you might be wondering-or, admit it, hoping-your kids will love it as

much as you will. Well, we think they will, but you should know that some of the costumes, dancing and language might not be appropriate for kids under the age of 14. We think teenagers will dig it, because it's totally awesome, sort of like a music video brought to life, complete with hot dancers and blazing guitar licks. You know the maturity of your children, so we suggest you use your best judgment about whether or not the show is appropriate for them. Remember, if you do bring them, they'll get to see you rockin' like you did back in the day. Just so you know.

Q: Will my grandparents enjoy ROCK OF AGES?
Depends on how cool they are. If your grandma has "I Wanna ROCK!" as her ringtone, buy that girl a ticket TODAY!

Q: I'm not familiar with 80s music, will I like ROCK OF AGES?
The show is packed with "feel good power ballads" that rose to huge popularity in the 1980s. They feature distorted guitar riffs based around power chords, catchy hooks and hard-hitting drumming. There are tons of guitar solos and many of the songs have catchy "sing-along" choruses and clear vocals.

Q: How long is ROCK OF AGES?
It's a smokin' 2 hours and 15 minutes (with a 10-minute intermission) of wall-to-wall 80s hits!

Q: Anything else special I should know?
Well, the show was nominated for five-count 'em- five Tony awards: Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (Constantine Maroulis), Best Director (Kristin Hanggi), Best Costume Design (Gregory Gale) and Best Sound Design (Peter Hylenski), which makes us feel pretty special!

Q: Should I wear my leg warmers, studded leather jacket and CFM pumps when I come see the show?
Can't hurt! Here's our motto: "Dress to excess, baby, it's the 80s all over again!"
