Saskatchewan Book Awards Seeking Input

The Saskatchewan Book Awards is currently seeking input from stakeholders and the community. Difficult decisions for the future are being faced due to changes in operational funding.

For 28 years, the Saskatchewan Book Awards has been recognizing, celebrating, and rewarding the excellence of Saskatchewan authors and publishers. The SBA is the only provincially focused book awards program in Saskatchewan, and it is a principal ambassador for Saskatchewan's literary community.

We encourage you to fill out our survey—it only takes a few minutes to complete, and your feedback is of great value to the SBA board. The survey is open to all Saskatchewan residents, and will be available until November 30, 2021 at midnight.

Call for Interest
Nomination to the CFLA- FCAB Board of Directors

The Canadian Federation of Library Associations (CFLA) Nomination Committee is currently seeking nominations for the 2022 CFLA-FCAB Board of Directors elections. Manitoba and Saskatchewan Library Associations share a position on the Board (the Prairie Provinces representative). The Federation’s Board of Directors will be elected by the Members at the annual general meeting (AGM) on February 11, 2022. The CFLA deadline for nominations to be included in the Nominating Committee’s slate is December 15, 2021. Both MLA and SLA are posting calls for interest and will jointly select the submission to the CFLA nominating committee. Therefore SLA is requesting that applications be received by December 6, 2021 to ensure sufficient time for consultation between MLA and SLA.

Article 32 of The Federation’s by-laws specifies the board composition. In order to be nominated, a candidate must be a member in good standing of a member organization of the Corporation. Because the Federation represents associations it is important that nominees effectively represent and are connected with the association(s) they represent.

Please submit a letter outlining your interest in this role and a resume that includes your current and previous connection to SLA or reflecting your ability to represent the associations at the national level.
Please send your letter (i.e. expression of interest) and resume to Dorothea Warren slexdir@sasktel.net or 10-2010 7th Ave Regina S4R 1C2
