Family Literacy Day Grants Now Available
Family Literacy Day takes place on January 27th of each year. The goal of this national event is to emphasize the importance of reading and family literacy.
Each year, the SLA offers $200 grants to support individual or institutional members who wish to put on Family Literacy Day library programs.
The 2025 theme for Family Literacy Day is “Learn to be Green, Together.” Applications will be assessed on how well the program aligns with the theme of fostering family literacy.
Applications for the 2025 Family Literacy Day grants open on November 4 and close on November 29, 2024.

Tisdale Library Celebrates Rider Reader Challenge Grand Prize Win!
Congratulations to Tisdale Library for winning this year's grand prize in the Summer Rider Reader Challenge! Clocking in with an impressive 94,528 reading minutes in total, Tisdale earned their title as the library with the highest number of reading hours. To celebrate, Tisdale Library and program participants received a visit from none other than Gainer the Gopher who brought food, festivities, and fun!
We would like to extend a huge thank you to our partners, The Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation, who helped make this program a roaring success.

Northern Saskatchewan & Cultural Tour Recap | |
We are proud to have partnered with the First Nations University of Canada, Government of Saskatchewan, and Pahkisimon Nuyeʔáh Library System to host The Northern Educational & Cultural Tour from September 16-20 of this year..
As a part of the tour, Cree-Métis artist and program facilitator, Harmony Johnson-Harder, travelled across Northern Saskatchewan to work one-on-one with community-members. Thank you Harmony for your contribution and incredible work!

We are pleased to announce Developing Inclusive Mindsets & Eliminating Biases, an upcoming webinar presented by Nura Mehammed and Zane Arnott from the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association.
Developing Inclusive Mindsets & Eliminating Biases will explore how biases are formed, how to be aware of your biases and how to challenge them. The importance and effectiveness of inclusivity from an organizational standpoint will be included in the discussion.

Drawing on public, academic and health library perspectives, this virtual panel will share examples of real-world case studies using A.I. for library sectors.
