Salt Lake City Voters Support Parks, Trails & Open Space Bond
Salt Lake City voters clearly communicated their support for new and improved parks, trails, and open spaces on November 8, with 71 percent of voters casting a ballot in favor of the $85 million Parks, Trails & Open Space general obligation bond. On November 22nd, the Salt Lake City Council, acting as the Board of Canvassers, made it official by certifying the results. 
Liberty Park Pond Repairs
What’s going on at the Liberty Park pond?

The Liberty Park pond has been drained so that we can make repairs to the gate that regulates the pond's water levels.

We've consulted with the Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) regarding wildlife in the pond throughout the process.

The gate repair is anticipated to be completed around the end of December and the pond will be refilled shortly after.
Rocky Mountain Power Fire Mitigation Project in Foothills
Rocky Mountain Power is currently working in the Foothills to replace power poles and power lines as part of their wildfire mitigation project.

Glendale Regional Park Update
The Glendale Regional Park Plan was presented to Planning Commission on November 9th.

After a public hearing and discussion with the commission, the Planning Commission made a unanimous recommendation to City Council to approve the Plan.

The Planning Commission did request in their motion that City Council pay special attention to the programming, operations and maintenance recommendations in the plan to ensure development and future management work to create a successful, activated park.

Regional Athletic Complex Celebrates Record Breaking 2022 Season
Another successful season is in the books for the Regional Athletic Complex!

In 2022, the complex hosted 36 tournaments and events bringing over 200,000 visitors from 36 states and 12 countries to Salt Lake City.

The RAC saw a record breaking number of events featuring out of state participants with a total of 17, bringing $19.8 million in economic impact to the City. The RAC also saw record breaking revenue this season totaling $691,850.
Jingle & Mingle this Holiday Season at Pioneer Park

This holiday season, Pioneer Park is featuring 16 lit trees on the north end of the park. The trees will be lit now through February.

To get people under the lights and to meet our new park rangers, we're hosting a series of Jingle & Mingle events.

All events will take place at Pioneer Park from 5-8 PM on December 2nd, December 9th, and December 23rd.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to mingle with our park rangers and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

The first 50 people each week will receive a free cup of hot chocolate!

ACCEPTING DONATIONS: Bring new or gently used winter clothing. The Park Rangers will make sure any donated items are given to individuals in need.
Pioneer Park Improvements Update

The project team is working to finalize Phase 1 of improvements for Pioneer Park.

With specific criteria developed through public engagement and in collaboration with the Council Office, the Mayor’s Office, Public Lands, and Engineering, the project team is currently cost estimating for design of the portion of the park depicted in the photo on the right.

Public Lands is also working on investigating donorship opportunities, programming, and operations planning for phase 1 and the rest of the park.
