The boutique resort of Cap Maison has panoramic views of where Caribbean Sea meets Atlantic Ocean. The resort even has its own Proposal Concierge, who arranges impressive proposals. One took place on Rock Maison, a cocktail deck perched above the surging waves, where a rock of another kind was zipped down the Champagne Zip Line.

The beautiful beach at Cap Maison (or as locals call it, “Smugglers Cove”) has stellar snorkelling spots. Keep an eye out for turtles if you’re lucky!

Once part of the Rabot Estate, one of Soufrière’s most famous cocoa plantations, Ladera Resort stands today as one of St. Lucia’s most unique and luxurious resorts. Suites have panoramic views of the Pitons and Caribbean Sea, with a private heated pool and romantic wooden swing.

Green Fig Resort & Spa announces St. Lucia Art Competition.

In midst of extremely difficult times for all St. Lucians, the country’s newest boutique hotel, Green Fig Resort & Spa in Soufriére, opens its doors to visiting vacationers later this month. The 25 room boutique property, offering jaw- dropping vistas of Petit Piton and Soufriére town and harbor, will be catering to the ecology minded traveler who also desires to absorb the culture of their chosen destination.

Mindful of this, Green Fig’s Management team is fashioning a “look” for the property that marries St. Lucia’s natural beauty with the creative juices of its citizenry. It is therefore with great anticipation and pride that the Resort announces The Green Fig Resort & Spa 2021 Art Competition.

Green Fig Resort and Spa has taken possession of a quantity blank canvases, measuring 20” x 30” (50 x 75 cm). We are hereby asking interested St. Lucian painters / designers to come to the property prior to February 28, see and be inspired by the Resort, pick up a canvas and create a masterpiece which will adorn the wall of a Guest room or possibly be displayed in a public Green Fig area.

Knowing that this is the intended environment for the artwork, it is expected that each creation will thematically compliment and enhance the interior or common space where it will be hung. The medium worked with may be oil, water color or mixed medium. There is an 11 color spectrum palette within which to work, as specified by Green Fig’s design consultant. These and other details will be shared with artists when picking up the canvas. Note: participating artists are welcome to submit more than one painting for consideration, but there is no assurance any submission will become part of the “Green Fig Resort & Spa Gallery”.

Cash Prizes
Green Fig Resort and Spa Management, in conjunction with its Design and Architectural consultant Ms. Christy Collins (of the US based firm Collins Design Ltd.) will adjudicate all submissions and decide the winners of the following awards: 1 st Place Prize $ 1,000 EC, 2 nd Place Prize $500 EC, 3 rd Place Prize $200 EC. Artwork submitted for judging will become the property of Green Fig Resort & Spa. However, it is the intention of Green Fig Resort that all works deemed suitable for display be available for Guests to purchase and take with them when departing St. Lucia. The price for each canvas will be determined cooperatively by the artist and Green Fig Resort & Spa, with the lion’s share going to the artist when a painting is sold. Under these circumstances, artists may be encouraged to continue providing works to the Resort on an ongoing basis. This will serve to constantly revitalize the cultural “vibe” at Green Fig while also providing the St. Lucian arts community at large a new outlet for displaying and selling their creations.

Interested artists are hereby asked to submit examples of their work electronically (email contact info and up to three images of your work to [email protected]). Having pre reviewed same, Green Fig Management will arrange a time with each artist for blank canvasses to be picked up. Return date deadline for all pieces eligible for cash awards is March 10, 2021.

Let’s work together for the benefit of the island’s eminently talented art community while also providing visitors the opportunity to take a piece of St. Lucia home to enjoy for years to come.
