Dear SLHTA Members,

Over the past few weeks, the unprecedented COVID-19 global crisis has challenged our citizens, our businesses, our members and also, the SLHTA as an organization like no other crisis in our 50+ year history. And with no end of the crisis in sight any time soon, the SLHTA remains entirely committed to do what it takes to support not only our members, but the country as a whole. Like many other businesses, we had no choice but to reduce our staffing, whilst doubling if not tripling our work loads. I want to take this opportunity to thank our SLHTA team members for their many years of dedication and their understanding of some of the difficult decisions that had to be made. As the industry faces ongoing challenges with COVID-19, the National Restaurant Association remains dedicated to helping everyone stay safe. Food safety training and education are more critical now than ever before.
 
To keep supporting your restaurant, food service, hospitality students and workers on the front line,  CHTA  and  CHTA Education Foundation  have partnered with  AHLEI  and  ServSafe  to make its standard, ANSI accredited, Online ServSafe Food Handler training program (available in English and Spanish) available FREE of charge to you through April 30, 2020.
 
Upon successfully passing the exam, employees or students will receive the ServSafe Food Handler Certificate, the leading standard training and certification for Food Handlers in the US.
 
ServSafe Food Handler covers 5 critical areas of responsibility for Food Safety:
 
1. Basic Food Safety
2. Personal Hygiene
3. Cross-Contamination and Allergens
4. Time and Temperature
5. Cleaning and Sanitizing
