Oceano Dunes Particulate Emission Reduction Efforts
In August, State Parks completed their first draft of the 2019 Annual Report & Work Plan (ARWP) and submitted it to the SLO County APCD and Scientific Advisory Group for their comments. Following that submittal, State Parks incorporated requested changes and released a second draft version of the 2019 ARWP on September 16.
APCD will keep the public and stakeholders informed when the next workshop on the plan will take place. To see all of the documents related to the ARWP and upcoming milestones,

Community Air Protection Program
The San Luis Obispo Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) recently invited the SLO County APCD and other local stakeholders to take a ride on two fully electric buses making their way around California in an effort to showcase the technology. The expansion of 100% battery electric buses provides an exciting opportunity as local fleets in SLO County work to integrate clean technologies.
To support this new technology, SLO County APCD has dedicated grant funding towards zero and near-zero emission projects. Starting October 1 through November 30, the APCD will be accepting grant applications for zero or near-zero emission projects in low-income areas throughout SLO County!
These projects will be funded on a competitive basis. Visit our website to find out more about these grant opportunities, and all grants that the SLO County APCD provides to local businesses and residents.

Calling all Agriculturalists!
Grant funding is now available to help local farmers scrap their old, high polluting tractors and irrigation engines and replace them with new, cleaner technology.
Grant funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and can fund up to 65% of eligible project costs!
Funding for the FARMER Program comes from the California Climate Investments program, a statewide program that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing GHG emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment.

They're Back! "Chill" Tips... For Winter!
Although recent temperatures in the 100's make it hard to imagine - the weather will be starting to cool down soon! Here are a few Winter "Chill" Tips! Remember, the electricity generated to power a single household creates air pollution. The less energy you and your family use during peak power hours, the less air pollution generated. By making a few simple changes around your home and office, you can help reduce your electricity consumption. Here are a few tips and tricks for staying warm, comfortable, and efficient this winter:
- Check for leaks around your home near window seals and doors and have them sealed.
- Use LED lights for decoration! They will save you money and energy this holiday season!
- If you do not use your fireplace, plug and seal the chimney flue to keep cold air from entering!
- During the day, open your curtains to let the sun warm your home! Close the curtains at night to keep the cold out!
- Use heavier curtains, or plastic film insulation kits to help insulate your windows.
