Preliminary Levy Certification and Budget Update

Director of Business Services Patricia Magnuson provided a budget update. The previous fiscal year (FY 2023), concluded on June 30, and the final field work for the audit began on Sept. 25. The budget for FY 2024 is now in review. In November, adjustments will be made for the FY 2024 budget using information from the audit. At the recommendation of Board Chair Casey, a motion was made to approve the Payable 2024 Levy as presented.

Superintendent Evaluation

On Aug. 8, 2023, the school board held a closed session meeting to discuss the annual superintendent evaluation. In pursuant with Minnesota Statute 13d.05, this is a typical proceeding, and the school board is to report a summary of its conclusion following the meeting. Former Superintendent Dr. Astein Osei was evaluated in five performance areas and two priority work areas from the strategic plan. The performance areas were:

• relationship with the board
• financial management
• community and public relations
• effective leadership of staff
• management of central office professional skills and abilities

These performance areas were evaluated on that scale of unsatisfactory, developing, accomplished and exemplary.

Approval of IoWA Authority

The school board approved Acting Superintendent Tami Reynolds as the IoWA for St. Louis Park Public Schools, until an interim superintendent begins.
