Superintendent Report Highlights


Dr. Hines centered her report around the mission to see, inspire, and empower each learner to live their brilliance in an environment that centers student voice and experience to create racially equitable learning that energizes and enhances the spirit of our community. In alignment with the mission, Dr. Hines acknowledged Hispanic Heritage Month and School Board Appreciation Month. Her report consisted of 5 main topics:

  1. Preparations for staff and students for the start of the school
  2. Youth Data Analysts (YDA) summer research and internship
  3. Warm welcome for students and staff
  4. Community engagement sessions to learn more from members of the community
  5. National Merit Scholarship recipients, Estella Hughes and Caleb Teichman
  6. Team USA in the World Junior Ultimate Championships, Ryan duSaire, Thomas Shope and Micah Davis

Strategic Priority Update


Ashley Sukhu, Director of Communications shared an update on staff of color retention. The three action steps being taken this year include:

  1. Create affinity and ally groups
  2. Develop a leadership development opportunity for racially conscious staff
  3. Fully actualize CARE team cycles in order to decrease the racial opportunity gap

Early Learning Programs Final Review 2023/2024


Patrice Howard, Director of Community Education; Erika Scott, Early Learning Supervisor; and Kim Rosholt, Interim Kids Place Supervisor shared information about Early Learning Programs which serves 577 families.

  • 20.5% scholarship (free/reduced)
  • 52.3% full tuition
  • 27.3% receiving special education services

Certificates of Participation Sale Approval


Director of Business Services, Patricia Magnuson and Municipal Advisor, Aaron Bushberger presented the Certificates of Participation Sale Approval.

Aquila Phase I Footings and Foundation Bids


Patricia Magnuson, Director of Business Services and Facility Manager Jim Langevin, presented an update on the Aquila construction project with Knutson Construction. The district remains on budget for this project, and the footings will be poured in November.

Preliminary Levy Certification


Director of Business Services, Patricia Magnuson shared current numbers of the payable 2025 payable levy in preparation for School Board action to certify the preliminary levy at maximum. The total levy will n crease +0.89%. Property values will increase +1-2%, resulting in a decreasing tax rate. The levy will get sent to Hennepin County by Oct. 1, 2024.
