Superintendent Report New Organizational Leadership Structure - July 1, 2024

Dr. Maguire shared that a new leadership structure will be put in place for July 1, 2024. The changes include the addition of an assistant superintendent and a modified reporting structure. Within the updated reporting structure, the director of student services and the directors of teaching and learning will report to the assistant superintendent to provide an integrated and focused system of support. Additionally, an assistant principal position will be added at Park Spanish Immersion and Peter Hobart elementary schools.

Additional leadership transition will occur as three cabinet level positions are turning over: the director of student services; the director of communications; and the director of human resources. View the SLP organizational chart that will take effect July 1, 2024. Additional information about the new leadership structure will be posted to the SLP website on March 29.

Aquila Elementary Building Capacity

Aquila’s enrollment coupled with increased space needs for programs (enrichment/talent development, multilingual learners, special education, adaptive PE, etc.) has created challenges for the community to equitably access curricular programming. The school board reviewed the mitigation strategies that have taken effect this year.

Administration recommended moving forward with a construction option to add additional classrooms and spaces at Aquila. The estimate for the full project is about $20 million. Potential funding sources include the 2022 bond funds or a lease purchase. If the school board decides to move forward with a facilities addition, the goal would be to completed fall of 2025.
