Dr. Maguire shared the district's efforts to build a comprehensive digital learning plan. This vision encompasses infrastructure, assessment, professional development, curriculum integration, personalized learning, and digital citizenship. It aims to empower educators, optimize investments, and ensure sustainable progress for SLP schools.

Strategic Plan 2023-24 Priority Work: Mid-Year Update


Priority 1: Culturally Relevant Literacy through the CARE Team Process

Sustain and deepen culturally relevant literacy development through the Collaborative Action Research for Equity (CARE) Team process


Priority 2: Retention of Staff of Color

Develop a retention strategy that amplifies the voices, perspectives, and needs of staff of color leading to a safer, more empowered, and fulfilling culture of belonging focused on retaining racially-conscious staff.

Data was presented on each priority (CARE team data and results from the staff of color survey) and school board members shared reflections on their learnings.


Next steps include:

  • Use current data to inform our thinking in identifying Priority Work for 2024-25
  • Collect second round of data on CARE Teams this Spring
  • Work with staff of color to develop a strategy for retention

Revised 2024-25 School Calendar Approved


The school board approved the 2024-25 calendar. The Family Calendar-At-A-Glance can be downloaded from the district website. Please note the calendar is subject to change throughout the year. The bottom right corner includes a date indicating when the calendar was last updated.

Achievement and Integration Grant


The school board approved the FY2025 Achievement and Integration budget.


Note that the District Teaching and Learning team has written into the Achievement and Integration Grant four additional Instructional Assistants (one per each elementary school) to push-in to classrooms to help with instruction and intervention in math, reading, and interdisciplinary literacy. In response to the requests for additional classroom support from educators and stakeholders, the grant was updated to provide this support for the remainder of this year and through the length of the grant period (2026).

March 18, 2024 Superintendent Search Update


The school board will reconvene for the continuation of the special meeting on Monday, March 18 at 6 p.m. to resume discussions and finalize the selection process for the superintendent search. The meeting will take place at Central Community Center (6300 Walker Street) in Room 21 and will be live streamed on Youtube. The lone candidate will be announced the evening of Monday, March 18.
