A Message from Superintendent Osei
Next Tuesday we will have the opportunity to celebrate the Class of 2022 during St. Louis Park High School’s One Hundred Twenty-Third Commencement Exercises.

This is such a special occasion because any time a cohort of students reaches this important milestone, it is a reflection of our entire school community. The collective support, encouragement, care, and love that has been provided to the Class of 2022 are all important aspects in helping them get to this point in their academic careers.

Some of the students who will be crossing the stage on Tuesday started in St. Louis Park Public Schools in Pre-K. I am thankful for all of the staff who have positively influenced these graduates along the way and for every parent/guardian who entrusts us with the education of their children.

From Pre-K to commencement, a journey filled with learning, friendships, success, failure, and growth. The Class of 2022 has experienced a lot over the past couple of years. Most of their High School experience has occurred during the pandemic and collectively they did not allow the pandemic or the impact that it has had on their high school experience blur their vision for the future. I am proud of the resilience this class has demonstrated.

As they enter the next stage in their lives, I pray that they continue to demonstrate the leadership, tenacity, and resilience that we have seen during their time in our schools. I also hope that they continue to interrupt systems and structures that diminish the humanity of others.

I recognize that we would not be able to honor this class without the support of all of you along the way. Thank you for always putting children first in St. Louis Park and for your continued commitment and support of St. Louis Park Public Schools.

In community,

Astein

In an email to Litzow Lorentz, who has taught in St. Louis Park since 2005, The Human Rights Commission made the following comments: "We were told of your remarkable dedication to the welfare and success of your students, making the high school and St. Louis Park community a much more welcoming place for immigrants, who also happen to be mostly students of color. We commend you on your commitment to establish and sustain personal relationships that foster the best learning environment possible. Thank you for empowering your students by helping them to realize that they have a voice and can advocate for themselves in meaningful ways."
