School Board Approves Changes to Safe Learning Plan
The School Board for St. Louis Park Public Schools approved changes to the District’s Safe Learning Plan at a special meeting on Tuesday, December 22. CLICK HERE to view the Special Meeting.

District Administration will continue to monitor COVID-19 case counts in Hennepin County and locally in St. Louis Park, all safe learning model considerations, as well as guidance from state officials, and will consider updates to the District’s Safe Learning Plan when appropriate.

Approved plan changes and the Transition Timeline includes:

Elementary Transition Timeline
  • January 13, 2021 | No School E-5, Grading Day
  • January 14, 2021 | No School E-5, Teacher/Staff Transition Day
  • January 15, 2021 | No School E-5, Family Connect Time (Parents & Guardians meet with current teacher to learn about student progress this year)
  • January 18, 2021 | No School E-12, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • January 19, 2021 | No School K-5, Family Connect Time (Parents & Guardians meet with New Teachers for in-person learning and Distance Learning Academy), Early Learning in-person learning begins
  • January 20, 2021 | No School K-5, Teacher/Staff Transition Day
  • January 21-29, 2021 | K-2 Elementary in-person learning and K-2 Distance Learning Academy instruction begins; all students in Grades 3-5 continue in Distance Learning
  • January 29, 2021 | K-5 School Day (Note: Previously scheduled as a no school day)
  • February 1, 2021 | Grades 3-5 Elementary in-person learning and 3-5 Distance Learning Academy instruction begins

Secondary Information
No changes were made to the Safe Learning Plan that affect Middle School and High School learning, however, High School athletics will be allowed to resume practices on Monday, January 4. 

Next Steps
  • Parents/guardians have until 12 p.m. on Monday, December 28 to complete the District’s Change Form to indicate they want to change their student’s educational delivery model.
  • January 4-11, Elementary students receive instruction through distance learning.
  • After Winter Break, additional information - teacher assignments, bus routes, Kids Place childcare registration, and more will be shared with families.
  • The School Board will meet again for its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, January 11, where they will check-in on the preparation for early learning and elementary Distance Learning Academy and full-day, in-person learning.

Free and Reduced Meals Application Deadline Extended
Even though meals continue to be free for all St. Louis Park students, families are asked to fill out an Application for Educational Benefits, also known as a Free and Reduced Meals Application. Filling out this application not only has benefits to families, but also to the District in the form of compensatory revenue. See below for more information.
Upcoming Listening Sessions with Superintendent Osei
As a part of the process to hear stakeholder perspectives, Superintendent Osei will be hosting Listening Sessions over the course of this school year for students, parents/guardians, and staff to better understand the impact of the implementation of the District's educational delivery models.

When are Buildings Closed During Winter Break?
Please note that during Winter Break, schools, community centers, the District Office and Kids Place are closed on the following dates: December 24, December 25, December 31 and January 1.
