Information Regarding School Board Vacancy
On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, then-School Board Chair Mary Tomback accepted the resignation of Board Member Laura McClendon, a member of the Board since January 2020.
State statute requires the Board to fill the vacancy, but the process by which it does so is within its sole discretion. The Board has chosen a process that will allow for any interested and eligible person to apply for the open seat. Board Chair Anne Casey hopes that many people will research the role and consider applying, stating, “We encourage all members of the St. Louis Park community to consider applying to serve on the school board. Please don't hesitate to reach out to board members if you have questions or would like to know more about the role and responsibilities of the board."
