Weather-Related Closures and E-Learning Information

In the event of hazardous weather or unforeseen circumstances, the superintendent may decide to close one or more district facilities or dismiss students and staff early. Key factors considered for weather-related closures include:

  • Current and Forecasted Weather Conditions: Evaluating both existing and predicted weather.
  • Consultation with Park Adam: Assessing road conditions, driver safety, traffic, and parking issues that may impact transportation.
  • Guidance from City and State Agencies: Incorporating recommendations and updates from relevant authorities.
  • Staff Availability: Considering whether adult personnel can report for duty to ensure adequate operation of district facilities and supervision of students.

The district will make every effort to notify families promptly regarding closures or early dismissals. Communication will be sent through multiple channels, including text messages, phone calls, emails, the district website, and local television news outlets. Information from specialized programs and activities including Early Learning, Kids Place, and Adult Options may receive separate messages.

E-Learning for Grades 6-12

In the circumstance school will be closed, students in grades E-5 will have a snow day. There are no e-Learning options for grades E-5. If there is a need for school closures, students will have no school. Students in grades 6-12 are equipped with Google Chromebooks to facilitate learning during inclement weather. In such cases, an e-learning day may be implemented.

E-Learning Day Guidelines:

  • Teachers will post lessons by 9:30 a.m. through the Schoology Learning Management System.
  • Teachers will be available online via email, phone, or Schoology from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Necessary information, including teacher contact details, will be shared via Schoology and email. Teachers providing a phone number will post it on Schoology.

Student Support:

  • Students or parents may leave messages for teachers, who will respond promptly to questions.
  • Assignment due dates will be clearly communicated by each teacher.
  • If a student lacks internet access, schools will ensure their learning needs are addressed.
