Student Voice at the Heart of Learning: The CARE Team Cycle in Action at SLPMS

At St. Louis Park Public Schools, work is underway to amplify student voice throughout the learning process. Through a collaborative approach known as CARE (Collaborative Action Research for Equity), educators explore questions to improve student outcomes and experience.

This framework encourages teachers to center their instruction on student experiences, fostering engagement and equity in the classroom by asking the question, “What do students think about what we are teaching?”

Complete the Strategic Plan Survey

In the fall, St. Louis Park Public Schools partnered with Pink Consulting for the strategic plan of 2025-30. To ensure the strategic planning process reflected the voices of the entire community, a core strategic plan group was formed. This group includes teachers, staff, students, and community members, bringing together a wide range of insights and expertise.

In early December, Pink visited St. Louis Park Public Schools for three intensive days of meaningful engagement. This included focus groups, interviews, and school tours designed to gather diverse perspectives in order to understand the unique strengths and opportunities within the district.

Additionally, staff were invited to complete a survey. 141 staff responded to the survey, sharing insights that are valuable to the strategic planning process. Families and community members are encouraged to share feedback throughout the process by taking the survey and participating in the upcoming in-person community engagement session on Monday, January 27 from 5-7 p.m. at the District Office (6300 Walker Street).
