November is Native American Heritage Month

SLP celebrates Native American Heritage Month in November. This is a time when we honor the history, culture, legacy and contributions of Native American and Indigenous communities. We recognize that this month is not only about reflection and learning, but also recognizing the resiliency Native Americans have endured alongside our nation. Throughout the month, SLP Schools will be exploring Native stories and activities to learn the legacy of Indigenous cultures.

SLP’s Commitment and Expectations During Election Season

The right to vote is a cherished privilege that many have fought for throughout our history. As we look forward to the coming days, it’s natural to feel a sense of anticipation. Regardless of the outcome of this election, I want to assure you that our commitment to supporting students and families remains steadfast.

We are here to provide consistency, structure, and a supportive learning environment that upholds high expectations. Our strategic priorities and dedication to empowering each learner to live in their brilliance guide our progress as a school community. We will continue to welcome, inspire, and encourage each student every day.

As we approach this pivotal moment, we will also engage in meaningful discussions about the democratic process in our schools. We aim to help our students understand how government functions, make informed decisions, and engage in civil discourse about political issues.

Teachers and staff are equipped to facilitate respectful discussions and integrate social emotional strategies to support our students during this time. If you have any questions or need support, please reach out to your child’s school.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children. We are dedicated to showing up for every student and for our entire community. Together, let’s navigate this journey with empathy and understanding.

A Smart Start: How Concurrent Enrollment is Shaping Student Futures

St. Louis Park High School’s concurrent college enrollment program offers students an excellent opportunity to earn college credits at a fraction of the cost, all while staying on school grounds. This program, in partnership with the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, allows students to dive into rigorous college-level courses taught by trained SLPHS teachers, equipping them with both academic and financial advantages.

A recent survey revealed impressive outcomes for students at St. Louis Park High School. Not only did 83% of participants earn a “C” or better in their courses, but they also saved a significant amount: students earned $40,143.60 worth of college credits for only $2,610 in fees, with an additional $946.26 in state aid. This financial edge makes a meaningful impact, reducing the costs of college for students and their families.
