A Message from Superintendent Osei
|
|
Happy new year! Early learning and elementary staff have been busy over the past couple of weeks preparing for the transition to in-person learning and Distance Learning Academy. Our team is finalizing details connected to the transition and we will be sharing more information early next week with E-5 families. During this transition process our early learning and elementary staff has really embraced our core value that everyone has the capacity and responsibility to contribute to the wellbeing of others. I am thankful for the collaboration and problem solving I have observed from staff during this time of transition. I appreciate the support each of you has provided as we have moved in and out of educational delivery models this school year.
I know that this has been a challenging school year for everyone and what occurred at our nation’s capital today only complicates matters. In St. Louis Park Public Schools, we believe that respect of self and others is fundamental for a strong, healthy community. We are committed to providing safe and nurturing environments that energize and enhance the spirit of each students’ spirit.
Thank you for your continued support of St. Louis Park Public Schools and I look forward to students having access to more in-person and hybrid learning experiences as we head into second semester.
Respectfully,
Astein

When St. Louis Park Public Schools transitions to full in-person learning for students in grades K-2 on Thursday, January 21, the Kids Place school-age child care program will open for before and after school care for students in grades K-2. Before and after school care for students in grades 3-5 will open on Monday, February 1 when students in those grades return to full in-person learning.
In order to help Kids Place prepare for this change and staff accordingly at each school site, the program is asking families for updated schedule information for all children who will attend Kids Place once full in-person learning begins.
If you need before and/or after school care, please follow this link to add a NEW registration for Kids Place school age child care 2020/2021 for your child to your Kids Place account.
Families currently enrolled in Tier I Critical Worker Child Care will continue in Critical Child Care on upcoming no school days (January 13, 14, 15, 19 and 20). No additional registration is required for these days. Contracts for Tier I Critical Worker Child Care during distance learning will remain on file in the event that St. Louis Park Public Schools returns elementary students to the distance learning model at some point in the future.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We look forward to supporting your family’s childcare needs and serving your child.
