A Message from Superintendent Osei
Growing up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago in the 80’s and 90’s, I became a huge fan of Chicago sports teams. As a child I fell in love with the Bears, White Sox and Bulls and in the 90’s there was a lot to celebrate when the Bulls won six NBA championships. During that time, Phil Jackson was the coach of the Bulls and one of his quotes that sticks with me to this day is that, “the strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each individual member is the team.”

During my time in St. Louis Park Public Schools, I have experienced a level of support and togetherness that is unmatched. The manner in which staff, parents/guardians and community members have come together to support one another and our students during this pandemic is commendable. One of the strengths of our school district is our collective approach. I have observed countless examples of parents/guardians and community members volunteering their time, donating resources, and engaging in the learning environment to support students and staff.

Thank you for your continued engagement and effort to support our students and staff.  I am humbled and honored to serve as the superintendent of St. Louis Park Public Schools and grateful to have the opportunity to team with each of you to meet the needs of each of our learners.

With much appreciation,

Astein
Information Regarding School Board Vacancy
On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, then-School Board Chair Mary Tomback accepted the resignation of Board Member Laura McClendon, a member of the Board since January 2020.

State statute requires the Board to fill the vacancy, but the process by which it does so is within its sole discretion. The Board has chosen a process that will allow for any interested and eligible person to apply for the open seat. Board Chair Anne Casey hopes that many people will research the role and consider applying, stating, “We encourage all members of the St. Louis Park community to consider applying to serve on the school board. Please don't hesitate to reach out to board members if you have questions or would like to know more about the role and responsibilities of the board."
