Read Between the Wines 2022
Wine Tasting & Silent Auction Benefit
We are, once again, holding our Read Between the Wines benefit! This event will feature seven distinct wines for tasting, savory and sweet treats, a wine basket raffle, and silent auction.
The benefit will be held in the library on Saturday, October 15th; 7-9pm.

The library is looking for donations of gift cards and items from local businesses that can be used to create gift baskets for our Silent Auction. Small businesses may also create their own gift basket and donate it to the library. Donations may be dropped off at the library or call us at 610-282-8825 and we’ll be happy to pick it up!

This helps Plant A Row know how many people are donating produce and gardeners can get weekly emails telling them how many pounds are donated at each drop-off location and the end-of-season total.

Book Sale Room
The library is accepting donations of fiction and nonfiction books (less than 10 yrs old), video games, and audio books on CD that it will sell in its Book Sale Room with all the proceeds benefitting the library's operating budget. Please limit your donation to 3 boxes or bags at any one time. For a detailed description of what we can accept please click here and click on the box to expand "Item Donations".
*Please Note: Music CDs and DVDs are no longer accepted.
Do you have some items that the library cannot accept? Please click here for a detailed description of what can be placed in the Better World Books bins located in our parking lot closest to the patio. This organization sells items online to benefit literacy efforts in third-world countries and the library also receives a small portion of the proceeds. 
Please Note: If the bins are full and barricades are up, please do not leave donations on top of the bins or on the ground because they will be ruined during inclement weather. Library staff report full bins to BWB in a timely manner and we are not responsible for the timing of pick-ups.
Nate Small recently completed his Eagle Scout project at the library. Nate and fellow scouts installed shelving, built a ramp, and divided the loft flooring in the library’s storage shed. As an Eagle Scout candidate, Nate was responsible for planning the project, securing funding and materials, organizing other scouts into work crews, and the install. Completion of this project will help library staff to make better use of the storage space. Congratulations, Nate, and thank you for a job well done! Your commitment to your community is greatly appreciated! World Book Discover
We have added a new World Book product! In addition to eBooks, we now have World Book Discover. These are great online resources for Homeschool instruction and parents looking to help out their children with research. Discover is geared toward reluctant readers or those reading below grade level.

Won’t you consider joining Friends of Southern Lehigh Public Library? This is a terrific group of community members who dedicate their time and energy to raising awareness of library services and resources, provide educational and entertaining programming, and host fundraising activities to benefit the library’s operating budget. The group meets monthly on the 2nd Monday at 1PM in the library’s meeting room. The 2023 Membership Drive will begin in January – join us!

Family Stories Month rolls around in November just in time for the holidays. When families gather it’s an excellent time to share stories and learn about family history. Family History Month encourages you to record or listen to stories from relatives of all ages. Start thinking of the questions to ask family members. While you’re jotting down those, be ready for some memories of your own to get stirred up. There are numerous anecdotes of adventure, travel, and romance in every family’s past. Whether we spin a humorous tale or an epic history of a whole branch of the family, record the information in a format that can be shared with future generations. Online and print resources are available at your library for exploring your ancestry.

Each year on December 4th, Wildlife Conservation Day seeks to spread awareness about preserving and protecting the natural world and its inhabitants. Additionally, the observance strives to put an end to wildlife crime and supporting the Endangered Species Act. Check out these and other titles on this important topic!

The Aquanaut

Never thought tissues would be needed when reading a graphic novel, but Caldecott Award-Winning author and illustrator Dan Santat went there. With a subject ripped straight from today's headlines, this thrilling story focuses on an aquapark (think SeaWorld), a loving family, and a bunch of escapist sea creatures who think they're venturing into space. Sophia lives with her uncle ever since her marine biologist dad died in a boat accident. Her uncle is trying to carry on the dream the brothers shared of opening a ocean preserve where sea animals could live in safety. But the investors want profit, no matter the cost to the animals. Meanwhile, a crab and his crew of friends have found a journal from the sunken ship and decide to go find this safe haven, even if it means going into space. For this purpose, they claim an old diving suit with a bell helmet, operating it a la Little Rascals. Their mission collides with Sophia and her uncle's grief at losing their beloved father and brother, and a friendship is born. But what can be done to save Aqualand? And should it even be saved? I'm not crying, you're crying!

Caregivers and children interact with age appropriate educational toys

with early childhood specialists on a variety of child development topics.
This is a 5 week workshop for both caregiver and child.
Caregiver/child must commit to all 5 sessions to attend.

Children’s programming is funded by donations received from local residents to the library’s annual Giving Tuesday Campaign in November.
