Southern Lehigh Public Library Supports

Plant A Row

Lehigh Valley

Your produce donations will go to the

Allentown Rescue Mission

Drop produce at Southern Lehigh Public Library

Mondays: 10am - 2:30pm

June 13th - Oct 3rd

Plant A Row LV is suggesting that you register your garden at plantarowlv.org. This helps Plant A Row know how many people are donating produce and gardeners can get weekly emails telling them how many pounds are donated at each drop-off location and the end-of-season total.

The library is accepting donations of fiction and nonfiction books (less than 10 yrs old), video games, and audio books on CD that it will sell in its Book Sale Room with all the proceeds benefitting the library's operating budget. Please limit your donation to 3 boxes or bags at any one time. For a detailed description of what we can accept please click here and click on the box to expand "Item Donations".

*Please Note: Music CDs and DVDs are no longer accepted.

Do you have some items that the library cannot accept? Please click here for a detailed description of what can be placed in the Better World Books bins located in our parking lot closest to the patio. This organization sells items online to benefit literacy efforts in third-world countries and the library also receives a small portion of the proceeds.

Please Note: If the bins are full and barricades are up, please do not leave donations on top of the bins or on the ground because they will be ruined during inclement weather. Library staff report full bins to BWB in a timely manner and we are not responsible for the timing of pick-ups.

13 Ways to Eat a Fly

 - Sue Heavenrich

Beginning with "Big flies, small flies, fat flies, thinner. Yum! Those flies are someone's dinner.", this book takes a humorous look at flies and the creatures who, well...EAT them! From the wood frog that uses its eyeballs to push the fly to its throat, to the fly-eating fungus that turns the fly into a zombie, to the hapless humans who have choked one down unintentionally... flies are food. This title is perfect for kids who enjoy a good gross-out session, as well as some great scientific facts. Includes info for additional books and websites. This one will FLY off the shelves!

Juvenile Graphic Novel

Turtle in Paradise

- Jennifer L. Holm

It's 1935, and summer is hot and dry. Turtle is sent to Key West, Florida, to stay with her aunt and a bunch of loud, messy boy cousins she's never even met. People who live on the Keys are called Conch...but Turtle isn't ready to belong. Her one desire is to return to her mother up north. For now, she's stuck. So she reluctantly joins her cousins in their unique babysitting service, the Diaper Gang. Soon she's too busy to think about leaving ...ghostly mysteries, scorpion attacks, sailing and sponge-fishing. Not to mention meeting her "mean" grandmother and an adventurous treasure hunt! Holm's has great success with her Babymouse graphic novels, and here is another stellar offering, this time a journey to a unique and simpler place and time.

It Fell from the Sky.jpg

It Fell From the Sky

- The Fan Brothers

It was a Thursday. Can anything good happen on a Thursday? What about something strange? The creatures who inhabit the micro-world of grass and dirt are surprised when a mysterious object appears in their midst. Although they've never seen it before, they have plenty of ideas about its purpose and origin. Of course, such a clearly valuable prize will bring out the worst in some. Spider rushes in to "own" the wonder...just in time for an Unexpected Disaster! Can beauty be owned? Or is it meant for all to share?
