WE'RE HIRING! SM PROGRAM ASSISTANT

SM is hiring a new Program Assistant. This position contributes to SM’s overall mission by leading the municipal certification process, supporting direct technical assistance projects, and coordinating outreach efforts. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of climate change and sustainability practices, successful customer service experience, and a passion for working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. They will play a critical role in partnering with the SM team in strategic decision-making as the SM program undergoes a growth and innovation period.

PEPCO AND SUSTAINABLE MARYLAND ANNOUNCE 2023 SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES GRANTS

Sustainable Maryland, in partnership with Pepco, will offer Sustainable Communities Grant awards to eligible organizations. This program will provide $60,000 support to fund environmental stewardship projects and $40,000 for community resilience projects across the Pepco service area in Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, and Washington, DC.

Requests for 2023 Sustainable Communities Grant awards will be accepted from April 21 – July 6.

Environmental Stewardship Grants (awards up to $10,000 – up to 6 awards expected)

Resiliency Grants (awards up to $25,000 – up to 2 awards expected)

What this funds: Communities that would like to implement small (15 trees or less) tree planting projects are encouraged to seek funding through this opportunity.

Who can apply: Local governments, non-profit organizations, community and homeowner associations, faith-based organizations, and more.

How much can be awarded? Up to $5,000

Is match required? Match is encouraged but not required.

STOP BY THE EFC/SUSTAINABLE MARYLAND TABLE AT MARYLAND DAY, APRIL 29

Stop by the EFC/Sustainable Maryland table at the top of McKeldin Mall at UMD-College Park on April 29! We'll be handing out free Black-Eyed Susan seed packets (a native plant and our state flower) to encourage butterflies, bees, and other pollinators to make a home in Marylanders' yards and gardens.

Join educators, students, and individuals working towards advancing education for climate action in the Mid-Atlantic at the 4th annual virtual conference on June 21 and 22, 2023.

On June 21st, learn about:

• Teaching Climate Action in the classroom and outdoors
• Building Climate Resilience in individuals and communities
• Exploring Climate Resources to support education and,

Starring in Solutions through careers for students.

On June 22nd, join participant-driven sessions where you can propose a climate education topic and then discuss and collaborate with other conference attendees.
