FREE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WITH MUNICIPAL CARBON FOOTPRINT REPORT ACTION

In 2019 Sustainable Maryland will be offering assistance from UMD student volunteers to help a limited number of towns with populations of less than 10,000 people to create a Municipal Carbon Footprint report, a baseline of electricity, natural gas and heating oil usage from buildings and fuel usage from vehicles. This report will allow municipalities to set goals for energy efficiency and track their efforts moving forward. Please contact [email protected] or 301-405-7956 if your town is interested in receiving this assistance next year (please let us know number of municipal buildings and vehicles).

TAKE THE A BETTER MARYLAND STRATEGIES SURVEY

Take the
A Better Maryland Strategies survey and help the state of Maryland prioritize topics within four categories - Environment, Economic Development, Community Development, Collaboration/Communication - and prioritize strategies within each topic. Input from Green Teams, elected officials, planning boards, and engaged citizens is important in making the state's new development plan as good as it can be!

QUOTE

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."

--Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672), the first female poet ever published in both England and the New World.

Sustainable Maryland is an initiative of the Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland. It is a free and voluntary program designed to help Maryland communities choose a direction for their sustainability efforts, improve access to resources needed to implement action, and recognize their accomplishments. Our sponsors include the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Maryland Municipal League. For more information about how your municipality can register in the Sustainable Maryland program, plus customized Green Team training and access to student resources that are available to provide consultancy services for municipal planning, please contact 301-405-7956 or [email protected]
