Dear SMA Community,

We have some exciting updates regarding our faculty. SMA is thrilled to announce that Ms. Newman will be moving up to 1st grade after 20 years of teaching kindergarten and 1 year of teaching 1st grade. Ms. Newman is thrilled to loop in with her students and families after getting to know them so well last year. Her dedication and nurturing spirit will continue to inspire her kindergarten graduates.

We also bid a fond farewell to Ms. Donnelly, who has been a cherished part of our community for the past 4 years. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors and thank her for her commitment to our students' growth.

Additionally, we are delighted to welcome Mrs. Peneku as our new kindergarten teacher. Her decades of teaching experience, enthusiasm, and passion for education will undoubtedly make a positive impact on our kindergarten students. Mrs. Peneku and Mrs. Asciutto will make a stellar team. Welcome, Mrs. Peneku

Hello. I’m Monica Peneku. I am a San Diego Native born to Italian immigrant parents. I was raised Catholic and attended local Catholic schools. I’m married to Hoku with 5 grown children and a spunky dog Bebe. I love Jesus, Sunday Mass, beach days, hikes with my family, Hawaii, and skiing. I also love Italian food and cooking a lot!

I received my Bachelor’s degree from SDSU and my Master’s in Teaching from the University of Puget Sound in 1997. Hands down Kindergarten is my favorite grade. I am so excited to be joining SMA and look forward to meeting you soon.

Junior High Family Orientation & Ice Cream Social

Save the date: 8/19/24

4-6 PM

Junior high families will mingle over ice cream then receive a brief orientation from their teachers in the classroom. All junior high students and at least 1 parent are encouraged to attend. Devices will be distributed to take home and free gently used uniforms will be available.

Kindergarten through 5th grade parents are welcome and encouraged to volunteer. Sign up here.

Join us in wishing Deacon Al Rosker a Farewell.

We are celebrating and thanking Deacon Al and his wife, Vickie, for all they have done for our parish next Sunday, July 14th. We wish them a blessed life in Pennsylvania with their family.
