Dear Parents,

What a day! Anne P. and I just returned from Anaheim after receiving recognition from the California Department of Education as a California Green Ribbon School (Green Achiever level-the highest honor). SMA was nominated by the State of California to receive recognition as a National Green Ribbon School from the US Department of Education. Click here to listen to watch us receive this award (go to the 1 hour 10 second mark) on behalf of the SMA community.
Grandparents’ Day is quickly approaching! The schedule is below. Parents are welcome to attend the 10 am Mass, but the rest of the day is for our beloved grandparents. For those grandparents who have difficulty getting around, we have a golf cart to transport from the academy to the hall.  The upper lot by the hall is also reserved for anyone needing extra assistance. Our 12 pm dismissal procedures will occur as usual.
We are excited to welcome the Scouts BSA every Monday at our assembly. If your child(ren) is interested in joining the Scouts (boys & girls) contact Mitzi Elsten at scoutpack51lamesa@gmail.com

Easter blessings,
Jennifer Miller
Principal
Grandparents' Day Schedule- May 6th
"Walking on Sunshine"
Our 29th annual day of welcoming grandparents and great-grandparents to our school is next Friday. This is a BIG day at SMA! We want to thank, in advance, Shannon Knuth and all of the room parents and parent volunteers who are involved with preparing the food stations and hall set up. Please note the schedule for the day.

The parish hall parking lot will be reserved for handicap parking and those grandparents who have trouble walking up the hill or stairs. There will be a golf cart stopping at 4 areas for pick-up to the hall and back for anyone needing assisting. (Thank you, Mari Waldron!)

8:30am - 9:50 Classroom visits and food stations (grandparents only)
10:00am -10:45 Mass (All are welcome)
11:00 - 12:00 Parish hall for entertainment by students (grandparents only)
12:00pm Dismissal as usual

Although parents are invited to the school Mass on Grandparents’ Day, we ask that only grandparents come for classroom visits and the brunch and entertainment that follows Mass. The day is specifically for them.
FYI: Volunteers will be helping with the coffee and food stations.
