Mission Statement
St. Martin of Tours Academy fosters confidence, curiosity, and independence through a climate of cooperation and trust by preserving dignity throughout the learning process, accentuating all children’s God-given gifts in a Catholic environment.
Dear SMA Community,

Our 8th graders were showered with love at their Farewell Assembly yesterday afternoon. Kindergarten framed pictures of their 8th grade buddies spending time with them and 7th grade created unique gifts
that showed how well they knew their 8th grade friends, such as
favorite candy, character, and even a shoe!?! Luckily, the 4th graders
made personalized bags to hold all the gifts each grade presented to
the 8th graders. The day ended with a traditional human tunnel in
front of the school celebrating our 8th graders as they left their school
for the final time.

You are all invited to attend the Graduation Mass tomorrow, June 2nd
at 3pm to celebrate the Class of 2023. The teachers, staff and I are
extremely proud of the Class of 2023, and we wish them much success
in high school and beyond. We hope they will come back to visit and
share all they have accomplished in life!

Our Kindergarten through 7th grade students can keep their reading and math skills in tip top shape to avoid the "summer slide". Students will continue to have access to Freckle (math and English) and a new addition called myON.

myON is a student-centered, personalized digital library that gives students access to more than 7,000 enhanced digital books in the core collection. Titles are dynamically matched to each individual student’s interests, grade and reading level. Combined with a suite of close reading tools and embedded supports, myON fosters student engagement and achievement.

All of these enrichment options can be accessed by logging into Renaissance (A.R.) as students regularly do to take STAR and R.R. assessments. Enjoy your time together with family and friends this summer. Thank you for a terrific school year together!

In Christ,
Jennifer Miller

Aloha, friends!
It has been an honor to serve as your Parent-Teacher Group president this year. We accomplished a lot together: We brought back the SMA Fall Festival, we celebrated together at a superhero gala, and we went online for our annual Walkathon and made more than $40,000, the most ever!
I am also excited to watch our incoming SMA PTG president, Katie Scheie, make her mark. She has great energy and will surely build on what has already been established. Please consider becoming an active participant in our committees and with our events. It is the very best way to make the most of your child’s tenure at St. Martin. READ ENTIRE LETTER HERE.

Meet Mr. Armando Garcia
Hello my name is Mr. Armando García and I'm very happy to introduce myself to the St. Martin Academy community. I will be teaching K-8 PE and 8 Spanish. For the past 14 years I served as religious educator and youth minister in diocesan leadership and parish roles. Prior to that, I lived in Mexico seven years with a Catholic missionary community studying religion and ministering to young people. I was born and raised in San Francisco and am the youngest of three siblings. My parents immigrated from Mexico and Colombia. I attended Catholic schools throughout my childhood and youth. Some of my most memorable experiences include playing school sports and altar serving. It is difficult to put into words the manner in which Catholic education has shaped the person that I am: my faith, my world view, and my identity as a child of God and a disciple of Christ. I pray I can be an effective instrument in the formation of the students of St. Martin Academy while also disposed to be formed by this experience too.
Meet Ms. Lauren Johnson
Hello, my name is Lauren Johnson, and I will be the newest addition to the office administrative team. I’ve been a San Diego resident for 12 years and I absolutely love living here. I enjoyed attending a private Christian school when I was younger and I’m very excited to now be part of St. Martin’s. In my free time you can find me surfing, boogie boarding or hiking. I love to be outdoors and exploring Southern California. My other interests include working with children, animals, gardening, cooking, leading Young Life youth groups and participating in church camps.
"Got Sneakers!" Fundraiser
Over 15 bags of tennis shoes were donated for the "Got Sneakers" fundraiser. Thank you to all the families that cleaned out their closets and got tennis shoes out of the landfill!
Donations received totaled $92.25. Thank you to Katie Scheie who spearheaded the fundraiser.
